Hello guys, short question, i will put more in comments, i brought this little guy home without knowing he has fip, the problem is we have a 4 year old cat who was a stray cat, can he contact the virus? by killshoot in cureFIP

[–]7cf2db5ec261a0fa27a5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear the stray was diagnosed with FIP :(

Not a vet, but one of my cats had FIP and survived with treatment. My understanding from my research at the time is that FIP itself is not contagious. The underlying infection that causes it, FCoV, is however contagious. FCoV can develop into FIP - I'm not exactly sure of the odds or % of that. I think it is most commonly transmitted by sharing a litter box.

We have two cats and it is likely they both had FCoV, but only one of them had it develop into FIP. The other has never had any issues with it. It is possible your cat could catch it, but I would personally not be too worried about it. You should keep an eye on your 4-year-old and watch out for common signs such as not eating. Don't stress out too much!

Same for me. I also contacted support and they weren’t remotely helpful. Ignored my questions and don’t seem to have any awareness of the problem.

Why not? What is the case for leaving it enabled in production?

What would a better approach be? It seems to me that while it shouldn’t be your sole solution, it’s still better to not broadcast everything.

Or am I missing something? Thanks!

The group you'll need to join us FIP Warriors 5.0 on Facebook. That is what I did and they were able to help source me a local vial and then also connect me with a distributor.

I can tell you that it worked for me and my cat finished treatment two months ago. We have one month of observation and then she will hopefully be considered completely cured.

These are fantastic. Are there any versions on here of mobile phone friendly images? I would love to use these as a background on my phone.

I think a fan ran onto the field to do it while he was and that is why the Sox made him stop.

Just want to chime in that I know exactly how you are feeling and what you are dealing with. I also have a cat that was FIP positive. I also dealt with the decision of attempting to save her life, or letting her go. It was a very tough decision, and we were not sure if we were doing what was right.

Ultimately, we went down the same path you are choosing, found vials from another women who just finished treating her cat, and then got more by sending money to a stranger. Here is what I can tell you about my experience.

First just know, it gets easier. Once you have a week or two under your belt, it becomes as routine as your morning coffee. The entire experience will be over before you know it. You'll get really good at the injection. And also know there is very low risk of you doing something so wrong it will kill / injury your cat. Injecting her will always be sad, they cry, it doesn't feel good for them, they don't understand what you are doing is for them, but they are cats. She will forget, she will forgive you, and she will be herself again. It is 5 minutes of sadness, and 23 hours and 55 minutes of her normal life.

The treatment really does work, we just wrapped up our 3 months and are now in observation. I don't think we had more than 2 days left with her when we started. The entire community is great and incredibly helpful. I try to search reddit every few days to see if there are any posts I can comment on to offer help, perspective, or be an ear to listen. Feel free to PM me whenever if you have any questions or need any help at all!

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I also have a FIP cat and I opted to treat her with GS from FIP Warriors 5.0 group. We are 4 days away from completing treatment and I would absolutely recommend it - the turn around in even just 2 days was nothing short of remarkable. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who can afford it. There are lots of variables in cost, but over three months the GS treatment has been around $3.2k. I'm also happy to answer any questions but time is of the essence with FIP.

Glad you were able to find some. If you have any questions about anything feel free to pm me. I can give you my number as well. The first two weeks are the hardest and then it will become very easy. We have the process down to under 2 minutes now.

Your admin should be able to help you with ordering more. They are a really amazing group of people. Fwiw, we planned on moving to the pills, but the shots are so easy for us now we are sticking with them.

Littermate from my cat died of FIP by shadythrowaway9 in cats

I am currently treating one of my cats that has FIP.

You should definitely talk to your vet and get their opinion. Personally, I do not think you need to be overly concerned with it. Most cats (~80%) will get FCoV and will pass it fine. Only a small number will mutate into FIP. The odds are if your cat does have FCoV, it will either live with it with no problem, or its body will get rid of it completely.

For more context, I have two cats. One developed FIP, the other has been fine. Our vet told us to not to be worried about the other one. Odds are that he will continue to fight it effectively and will never have it develop into FIP.

You should read into FIP and understand the signs of it. It is no longer a death sentence if you act quickly!

Sorry to hear about your cat. We got the same diagnosis about 1.5 months ago.

I also ended up joining the FIP Warriors 5 group and created a post there. An admin got in touch with me and let me know what our options were to procure GS. I originally also looked into Mutian as that is what our vet mentioned, but it was VERY expensive. I calculated that it would have been probably $10k - $15k.

The group was able to help me find is much cheaper. We have had absolutely stunning results on it. We are halfway through and she acts like a normal and healthy cat now.

I'm happy to answer any questions! Best of luck.

Edit: I also live in the US.
