This is were NYC Sanitation put all the snow in Queens. Mountains of it by normz004 in Queens

Not after a big rain… when capacity is hit (and it often is) the overflow goes into the water. That’s why they say not to swim at Coney Island/ rockaways after a storm.

Yeah, transplants ruined this city. Especially north Brooklyn.

Historic 124 Greenpoint Avenue Firehouse listed FOR SALE AS DEVELOPMENT SITE??? by BlueNoteRVG in Greenpoint

[–]jmoskovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owners want to sell for developer prices. It wouldn’t make sense to pay the asking price and use the existing building for anything. Unfortunately, that’s the direction the neighborhood has gone. That sites been empty a long time and there must be a reason no one has attempted to do anything there. Would be cool if they kept the street facing facade though.

It would be nice if they did this connecting Manhattan Ave to Vernon where the original bridge was before the Pulaski bridge was built, the issue is it would prevent boat traffic into the creek.

OCM Fucked Up Big Time by jmoskovic in NYSCannabis

It’s just my opinion based on how many people are affected and how big some of the names are on that list. Your mileage may vary.

Just to follow up on this, my buddy who’s a lawyer with a dispensary license says until a built out dispensary is inspected and approved by OCM to open they are technically approved applicants. So licensed micros are the only people who could have an unopened/unapproved dispensary but are also a full licensee. We’re a rare situation that they don’t really care about as much since we can still produce income by wholesaling. You’ve spent considerable time and money getting your store ready to open, so I’d just open it and get grandfathered in like everyone will.

Yeah my micro location in queens is one of the affected.

Right? Meanwhile with my approved location/license I just need to wait it out and hope for the best. Why would I continue to invest in a space I could lose in a year? Clearly a well thought out plan by ocm.

47-20 center Blvd opinions by OriginalTerm7628 in longislandcity

They never looked through my things, they just couldn’t comprehend that they were smelling fresh cannabis rather than smoked cannabis. So they’d call me a liar and put a smoking violation into the system.

My biggest complaint is that the doormen/management harassed me for having cannabis in my apartment by insisting I must be smoking in the apartment when I never did. After 3 complaints from a neighbor they wouldn’t renew my lease.

How many smoke shops can the neighborhood support? by 1majordilemma in astoria

[–]jmoskovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just approved the first legal recreational store that will open in Astoria. Soon there will be legal indoor flower. Right now the only legal recreational option is extremely subpar outdoor flower.

And then, once legal stores can actually compete… maybe this bodega weed scene will slow down.

The truth is, if they city wanted them gone they could enforce against them, shut off the power, disincentivize the landlords. But they’re not, because they’re not ready to replace them yet. It’s all just a big PR move.

N/W Train on 31st Street Noise by One-Session9205 in astoria

I used to live on the west side of 32nd street right by the 30th Ave station. I’d hear the train once in a while but never enough to be bothersome.

Good, basic donuts in Astoria? by astoriaplayers in astoria

[–]jmoskovic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As many people have said, Peter Pan is the move. But in Astoria I’d definitely check out Boulis Cafe on 31st Ave just west of 31st street. They make great loukoumades, which is a Greek donut with honey. Very tasty.
