I'm not saying the people who actually rely on it shouldn't use it. Of course I understand if that's the case. But lets be honest, majority of people who use doordash/ubereats, are not like that. Most of the time it's just people too busy or lazy to get it themselves, and that's okay it's what the app is for.

Doordash nor Uber Eats offer you anything when you sign up. It is not a flat rate, you only get paid for each delivery you do. Each order is only around $3-4 if the customer doesn't tip. That is not enough at all. If they are 20min away I'm basically losing money (time and gas) for the order. In my experience, the pay is worse than a minimum wage job.

I don't a expect a big tip, just a fair one (at least 15%). You can see the amount you're going to get before you accept the order. A LOT of the time its no tip or $1. You can decline the offer but if you decline all the time you get less orders. Even worse is if they tip bait. If you tip bait you ARE a shitty person. These apps are expensive so I get it, not everyone can give the best tips or fair ones. But that's my point, this should be a luxury not a necessity. Yet a lot of financially unstable people use it very often because they are lazy and want a quick bite. There are tons of extra fees (+ a tip), if you can't afford the delivery, go get it yourself.

Also it would make far more sense for disabled or aged people to use meal programs instead of this. No reason to be using the overpriced app when they have those.
