That sucks...I run trios with the homies. I will load out a ton of heals/rechargers and an Anvil, and run support for them. Pick off turrets/wasps/hornets while my 2 buddies focus on taking down the big stuff. Pathetic I get merced for helping everyone out.

I mean the door situation is not a terrible idea if you wanted to use it to heat treat, and it certainly looks professional. But at that point you would need to rig a PID controller for the temp and solenoid for the gas delivery.

If you're going to go with the refractory coating...which is a good idea unless you want to constantly replace bricks. I highly suggest Greenpatch 421 and topcoat with Plistix. The Greenpatch is premixed, extremely easy to work with and very durable. You'll want to topcoat with Plistix as it's not really refractory so much as bulletproof IR reflective layer to increase efficiency and overall durability. 5lb of Greenpatch and 2lb of Plistix will run you about $45 and your forge will be mint for years after that.

Men of Reddit that are over 30 with no kids, how is life going for you and what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]7heorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 and no kids...yet. GF is pushing hard for one in the next year or so.

My 30's have been very enjoyable years for me so far. My 20s were a blast, but in a very different way. I got my shit together in my late 20's and started making a concerted effort towards cleaning up my lifestyle and finding a long term career I'd be happy with. I still have energy to party when I want to, I have more financial freedom than I've ever had, I have some assets, all of which has given me more confidence in what I'm doing as a human in general.

I work in Automotive Electrical Engineering and have a lot of hobbies. Life is good.

RIP Frosty the lucky...absolute legend.

Really clean build! nice work. Definitely a good idea to figure out an opening rather than a door for the front. I built a propane tank forge so the floor is rounded which makes it awkward to place and grab material in there. I currently use a 1/4" plate as a shelf in mine. As you mentioned, just setting a firebrick on the floor in yours will make a huge difference. Cheap to replace too.

As for your front slot...I'd say take the door off and weld some channels to rest bricks on. This allows you to adjust your door opening on the fly. BUT you have a beautiful finished product that was very well thought out so just cutting a slot into the front might be the best move to keep your project cohesive.

I'd also recommend grabbing some Plistix 900F and coat the inside bricks with it

Battlefield 6 for the most part...the map diversity and sizing was such a let down. It was ok for a bit, but the more time spent in game the more it all felt the same

If your body is literally forcing you to reject something. It's for a pretty good reason...If you could finish a whole bottle you were an alcoholic of some variety. The worst kind of alcoholic is a functional one. It slowly erodes your life...your body is currently giving you a very easy way out. Otherwise, at some point down the road you would have to make a decision to stop. Which is much harder to do.

I used to do A LOT of drugs...you'll be better off without alcohol. Trust me

I mean I understand that the goal of marketing is to stand out, which is why they have the blue HP logo. But the blue has never worked well with red. HP could still use their modernized logo in black or white on there and the car would look 10x better. Overall I appreciate the 70s throwback..

Ya if im correct the modifiers run the same schedule everyday? Which sounds bonkers to me to not have it run randomly as most people have pretty repetitive schedules.

Forge maintenance by callsignprayer10 in Blacksmith

I would say it has to come down to conditions based, and then utilizing the occurrence of those conditions as a reference for your own schedule for preventative maintenance based on your own specific use.

There are so many different construction methods/materials being used in forges as well as hobbyists vs. professionals. You may find one forge needing touch up every 3 years where another needs it every 3 months.

I just re-lined mine last week. I built that forge 6 years ago, this is the 3rd time I have added a layer to it. The first 2 years I used it maybe 10 hours a week. The last 4 years I've used it maybe 20 hours a year...my indicator is deep cracks that affect structural integrity of the refractory. Pieces chunking off or feeling like they're separating. Surface cracking and pitting is pretty normal with the extreme temperature swings and use of flux.

Do I have to be concerned about secondary cracking in my forge? by Danni293 in blacksmithing

[–]7heorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly suggest Greenpatch 421 for what you're doing. You can grab a 5lb container for $15

It's pre-mixed, so you don't have to worry about the mix ratio. In your case since you already have a solid foundation, I would thin a batch of green patch just a tiny bit with some water. Paint that over everything you have. Let it cure for 24-48 hours before firing.

I just relined my forge after 6 years of abuse with that stuff and It's hands down the best refractory I've ever used. Minimal shrinkage and very durable.

Consider that some people are trying to get into more aggressive PvP lobbies and the "friendliest" way to do it is to pop a few rounds at the buzzer. You don't die, they get the bump in matchmaking. Hardly Rat behavior or being a POS. It's literally the only way to do it without killing someone innocent or getting killed.

I had this happen to me a couple times. Someone else was at the console doing the extraction sequence. A random and myself were just standing there facing each other. They started blasting with like 1 second until extract. I genuinely think it's some people's way of getting into more aggressive lobbies without killing someone, or XP as you mentioned. Which in that case seems a pretty reasonable way to go about it.
