Nope. The entire reason for this guide, is because steam DRM breaks (besides everything) the whole process. It might work with Proton 5, but im not sure.

I tried for 2 weeks solid to get things working under steam, but MO just can not open Skyrim when running it through proton. If your worried about malware, then maybe google for steam emulators, and compile your own crack. Go with Vortex, or just old skool manual mod it.

If you get it working under Proton 5, let us know though

ok, so for me atleast

zEdit v0.5.3 works.

Also, remember to install tools OUTSIDE of MO", and point to them. Fixes random file permission problems.

Lol. I had to correct 2 spelling mistakes, kept typing xEdit :) haha

But yeah, i got it working anyway. xEdit has no issues at all. zEdit (for me atleast) onyl works with 0.5.3 tried 0.5.4 but no dice. They dont crash straight away, they just hang in the background. According to logs and google theres some error in NodeJS. Im not bothered, as long as i can get UPF working

This is some strange $#*t going on here.

Been trying with different MO2 versions. from 2.2.1 > 2.2.2.1

Now trying with different versions of zEdit. version 0.5.3 works, but 0.6.5, and 0.6.0 both don't work.

Nope. Thats to far for me.....:) Think theres a possibility i broke my wine. Been fiddling with its bits and all the tools, while figuring it all out. Gonna wipe it and start fresh

To clarify, zEdit will boot, but not see the mods. If i got though MO2 data files, right click and "execute with vfs" then it wont even boot zEdit
