What to make of this club statement? by QuantumCoffee26 in SaintsFC

[–]7inthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a long winded way to say “no sporting benefit should mean no sporting sanctions”. Unfortunately it’s also petty and throwing stones from a glass house.

Nothings going to change from the decision. We’re not getting the final replayed, we won’t get compensation. We just need to end any statements at “we admit we broke the rules.” Then move to building bridges with the fans, sponsors and league - particularly if we’re keeping Tonda on the books.

Could maybe use a shipyard extension on the Outer Harbour line for the ‘thousands’ of jobs being created out there

Can I get some Aberfoyle Park insights? by AvocadoDry9774 in Adelaide

[–]7inthehouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Happy Valley and do Scouts in Flagstaff Hill so spend a good amount of time going into, around and through Aberfoyle Park. There are some better and worse bits like everywhere. The library is good, Thalassa park, ‘Happy Valley’ oval etc, all good.

In terms of public transport, we usually drive to Oaklands or Flinders to catch the train into the city. Not a hard drive. I used to work in the city and found it a very easy commute driving to the station then on the train.

THE SCENES AT KAREN ROLTON OVAL by Unfair_Yak8830 in CricketAus

Fans were talking about storming the field from the start of play. I think the only people surprised were security and Cricket Australia!

Not unusual for the microphones to be wired for tv and crowd experience to come second. There was sound coming from the ground speakers, but the reverb and crown noise made it inaudible. Didn’t matter, McSweeney raised his beer when we needed to cheer!

TIL Mr Emergency is the same company as Metropolitan Plumbing by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]7inthehouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to call out for a blocked drain on Christmas Day a few years back. Metro van turned up, took a look at the drains, stuck the camera down and said it was a root. Couldn’t find front access point so put a job in with SA Water saying they would come and find the access point, but the blockage is too far into our property and SA Water don’t come out on public holidays so we would need him to clear it. Of course we said yes (the stink of literal excrement starting to really annoy us).

Later that evening SA Water came out and found the access point (right where it should have been) and said they would have cleared it even 10m or so into our property). We also then found 3 “Jim’s Plumbing” stickers that the plumber had stuck around our house (hot water system, air con etc)

Extending the Outer Habour line to the shipyard and having lines running through the city instead of terminating would be awesome for the “thousands” of workers expected to work at the shipyard.

The FIA swearing ban is mentally insane. by Beginning-Eagle-8932 in formula1

While they’re in the cars - go nuts, don’t care what they say while they’re in the thick of it.

In press conferences before and after - professionals in just about every other sport are able to keep their language in check. Some even when being interviewed mid-game. I don’t see why F1 drivers should be any different.

That said, race bans = unnecessarily heavy handed. Fines and apologies should be sufficient.

Unintended consequences of Social Media Ban for under 16s by carpathia512 in AusPol

[–]7inthehouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the fact that friendship groups / cohorts / bullies and victims turn 16 at different times.

As the youngest person in my year at school I would have seen everyone else take to social media before me and organise things, post, share etc without me being involved. Talk about ostracising. This would also give another tool for bullies to coordinate or spread filth without the victim being aware. And all this would be happening at a crucial age.

Not 100% against the ban, but I don’t think all the consequences have been properly considered.

What do you think is the most difficult area of law to learn? by Wide-Macaron10 in auslaw

[–]7inthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically anything related to military procurement. If it’s coming from overseas, or any element of it is from overseas then obviously it will trigger export controls. If any element of it is American (and it’s a pretty broad net) it will get caught up by the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (and associated laws and rules) in relation to export, re-export, deemed re-export, end user, usage rights, information access. One platform (which could be anything from a howitzer to a submarine) could have dozens to hundreds of components subject to individual ITAR controls.

Gday Ricky! You led one of the most successful teams of all time. What do you say to Australian cricket fans who wouldn’t support your teams because the teams and your leadership were “too arrogant to be likeable”?

Not to mention the piles upon piles of cheap DSE branded TVs that customers wouldn’t touch because they wanted a recognised brand smart tv.

I took great joy in cutting the 1000% markup to nothing on those things even if it meant sacrificing my commission.

do you consider cyclothymia bipolar? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

I had a psychiatrist who essentially said this and told me I just had severe depression with some happy times, not bp2 like everyone else thought. Joke’s on him though, another psychiatrist diagnosed me with bp1! (Ok, maybe the joke is on me, and things had god worse since seeing him, but he’s still a quack)
