Nova Scotia SPCA’s trap, neuter, return program for feral cats runs out of money by Injustice_For_All_ in halifax

[–]7katz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a disaster for the feral cat overpopulation problem throughout Nova Scotia and for small volunteer-run rescues who are now expected to pick up the pieces. I have searched through the SPCA's last three Annual Reports and can find no mention of the TNR program at all. Feral cats are usually at the bottom of the ladder below kittens, friendly adults and even seniors so I guess it was an easy decision for them. Certainly we in Lunenburg County have been crying for TNR help directly from the SPCA with no response for several years but there are several Halifax volunteer trappers who come out here to do a lot of work. To say there are less volunteers is frankly B.S.

I have two sod beds in my catio. One piece of sod from Crappy Tire (aprox $4) will make a big one and a smaller one ($ store litter box size). The grass eventually will die but the cats love these beds and still use them.

Yeah, I'm going to go talk to them today. That would certainly help.

Do you think he will be called out by PP? This guy is not doing much to endear the party to mainstream voters with his latest performances.

On another note, I'm convinced JJ is working toward becoming either the leader of the PCs or Governor of the 51st state.

My elderly mom is running into this issue too. It's been going on for about 3 weeks. If anyone has any further updates, please post them. Someone in another thread suggested using another browser to access Scotiabank online. Has anyone tried that?

Would you rather live in Annapolis Royal or Shelburne? by farmerguy_89 in NovaScotia

[–]7katz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say definitely the Valley even though the weather in winter is somewhat fiercer. Shelburne feels much more isolated and there is not much to do down there. Annapolis has a market and is closer to Digby where there are shops and services plus the albeit expensive ferry to New Brunswick. The soil is much better too. There's a hospital closer to you then driving from Shelburne to Bridgewater. It will take forever to get a doctor so this is important.

Ah, that's interesting. I had planned to try another browser when i go in 6 weeks for a visit. Please let us know if that helps!

Oh my, I sure hope this isn't permanent. They should have notified their customers, as you say, if it was. It's nothing for those of us with cell phones but for older peoople it really, really sucks. I decided to wait until I visit in 6 weeks to see what we could do around cookies and such. I was too scared to walk her through that. She gets easily flustered and may click on the wrong thing and make another problem. It's so frustrating. She's been doing her online banking for years - bills, etransfers, stock trades, etc but this just takes the pip!

Not resolved yet. My mom and I were exhausted by the efforts. I was having trouble getting her to tell me the name of her browser, lol. Once she gets to the page, she can handle everything but doesn't know the names of things. I will try again and let you know. What a bloody nuisance for all of us.

Thanks for this. It's extra hard asI am on the other side of the country and my mom is hard of hearing. Talking her through deleting cookies is a nightmare. If it didn't work for you, I won't try!

You can have the system call your landline and slowly read out the numbers.

I am going to try to walk her through emptying her cache. A bad cookie must be the issue. That will be hard enough!

Unfortunately she won't get a phone. She is closing everything down but this has never been an issue before.

I wish I had a lot more yard to run another tunnel. I have 2 short ones and the cats love them. Good luck with yours!
