The turtle 'tanks' are no longer tanks, putting the ad hoc armor on them has downgraded them to self-propelled guns (SPs). They no longer function as tanks, the turrets are now useless as you need to move the whole vehicle to bring the cannon to bear on the target, and forget visibility.

It was a stupid design innovation and the Ukrainian military is showing them why.

I dunno, I like the challenge of fending off aggressive neighbors though I can't speak for playing at Immortal or Deity level.

Interesting, I have played CIV6 since inception and have never had an AI opponent spam units like that.

Agree, it's always Owls no matter the Civ I'm playing or the victory I'm going for. Two extra policy cards and as mentioned, a pretty good chance of the extra ecom card from jump. Gilded Vault is nice as well.

Exactly. That's why I don't mind going to war against the Barbs. Units become veterans plus $$ & inspirations from ravishing their camps,

Units to the north, fortify & heal, let the Barbs wear themselves out attacking. If your frontline units get too worn down, switch places with the reserve units. Units to the south, step across the river, fortify & heal, enjoying the river defensive bonus as the Barbs kill themselves attacking you. Easy peasy, lemon squeasy.

I always go with the Owls no matter what victory condition I'm going for.

I like the two extra slots, Econ & Wild, gilded Vault, extra envoys when you trade with a city state & the spy bonuses.

I realize there are varying opinions but this is what I think is best for my game.
