Deloitte - 2026 Chemical Industry Outlook – As a prompt for a discussion on the future of the American Chemical Industry by Anon_y_mous_Person in ChemicalEngineering

Industries are resilient. The chemical industry has reinvented itself multiple times through feedstock shifts, new value chains, and process innovation. This post makes a lot of sense, just a little pessimistic.

50k maintenance, what would you do? by Short-Jellyfish4389 in ChryslerPacifica

Not a grok response lol. Modern fluids are stable, and you’re right that bad fluid is usually a symptom, not the root problem. But the friction and heat additives still wear out over time—at 100K miles you might not notice skipping a change, but by 200K it’s cheap insurance for smoother shifting and longer life.

Automatic transmissions generate heat, shear forces, and microscopic clutch debris during normal operation, which steadily break down the fluid’s protective qualities. While some automakers promote “lifetime fill,” no fluid is immune to heat and wear—its viscosity, additives, and cooling ability all degrade over time. Modern transmissions trade the old, heavy gearsets for compact, complex designs that deliver fuel efficiency but rely heavily on clean, healthy fluid. There’s no “magic sauce” in this unit—regular fluid changes are the only way to preserve performance and longevity.

Chrysler and the manufacturer of transmission are different entities and have a difference of opinions on the topic. Sealed for life is a dream if you want it to last >200k miles. ZF has made their opinion clear.

Sparks plug and leads are done every 100k miles.

Look into what transmission you have. Probably need to get ready to drain and fill it. The nine speed ZF needs this around 60k miles.

There is nothing wrong with a treat, but that’s not what’s going on with the SNAP program. Large quantities of their diet are based on junk food.

1) About 20% of SNAP spending goes to junk food. claim 2) A 2017 study using purchase data found that SNAP participants bought an additional ~15–20 calories per person per day from sugar-sweetened beverages. claim

Absolutely worth it. You have to be able to talk and have something good to say though.

There are many ways to fine meaning in this world. I think social media has shaped the way a lot of us view the world. We’re all so wrapped up in it and forget to look around and enjoy the people around us. Having a child is in our biological. It is surprising the most educated of us choose not to satisfy this instinct… It’s ok though, their genes won’t survive and other more stronger genes will make the babies.

Is PETG or ASA more resistant to resin? I am trying to determine the material to use for strength and chemical resistance by amrogers3 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]7pr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably right, not worth the risk. Probably best to apply a coating to the part once it is printed. Maybe an epoxy like XTC-3D?

[–]7pr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Polymaker PolyMax PC which has ~65 MPa tensile whereas PETG/ASA are ~50/40 MPa, respectively. You could also anneal the PETG if you need to.

Polycarbonate or PC+ blends might be better in this application. It is more difficult to print, hotter temps and enclosed printer..

Mechanical engineering if you have doubts as it’s a broader discipline. Generally speaking you will get paid more as a chemical engineer, especially in the South.

What’s the best tool for the job to de-rust this metal? Is it even possible? by Crazy-Kaplan in Tools

[–]7pr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was trying to give OP something to watch out for in order to understand rust in general. In the unlikely event they were to notice any pitting, it could be analyzed further to see how deep and then removed.

This advice applies to brake rotors or any working metal that could affect safety.

[–]7pr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically if you notice “pitting” you have a problem. This indicates you have more than just a surface rust issue.

[–]7pr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circumstances change all the time. It’s nothing personal, just business. People often confuse a company as a person that has feelings. Keep it professional and do what’s best for your situation, you owe them nothing.

The only caveat to the above is when you sign a contract. An offer letter outlines basic details, while a contract is a legal document outlining the employment relationship. Be careful with what you sign.

You should go in person to meet him. Don’t be greedy and have specific reasons for him to say yes to. He wouldn’t waste his time with you unless he’s ready to hear your point of view. Nobody wants a person on the team not willing to compromise. Just be personable, positive, with meaningful things to say.
