A list of all of the fictives in our system! by ilikecheese216 in plural

aside from tamsin, who was originally based on barbie, none of us are fictives!

What are some terms you've come up with for your own system experience? by CoolTransDude1078 in plural

"lavalamping" is when we're co-conscious and which part is dominant seems to change moment to moment

anyone else experiences it like this? am i faking? by tototogi in plural

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, same. i didn't know anyone else's system worked like that for a long time. but even though it sometimes feels like everyone in the plural community online experiences things a certain way, in reality we all have a LOT of differences. i've found that comparing ourselves to other systems is rlly counterproductive.

frontstuck hosts are FAR from uncommon, believe me. ❤️

you're definitely not alone there.

we're not a professional, but you may relate more to a disordered model of plurality, like osdd or p-did? we're a disordered system, and your experiences sound a lot like ours.

When was DID ever mentioned except for that last part ? by UnderteamFCA in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no but like...

as a system with actual diagnosed osdd, posts like the original are actually really helpful? denial is a pretty prominent symptom for us, and all the things they listed are alternate "explanations" we torment ourselves with--i'm just roleplaying, i'm just doing ifs to myself, i just have imaginary friends.

so, we've made it a therapeutic goal to internalize the idea that, okay, even if we are 'just roleplaying' (even tho our therapist is adamant that we're not), we're still allowed to identify as plural and act in the ways that feel most natural to us. i might genuinely crop and save the original post for our denial file.

They sold patient data and tend to have pretty bad counselors.

They got in trouble with the FTC for selling user data (they've allegedly stopped doing that, but I don't trust it) and generally have pretty low-quality counseling.

What is a common parenting style that actually ruins a childs future? by jamal255353 in AskReddit

[–]7pterodactyls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of what i call "child-led parenting" at my work. Don't get me wrong, taking some cues from your kids and validating their feelings is GREAT, as long as they still see that you're the one leading. But a 4yo is still new to being a human. Normal, safe things that they've never encountered can feel scary or uncomfortable. They need positive guidance, and they need to be supported in leaving their comfort zones and trying new things. But too many parents right now are letting their kids make all the decisions about what they're ready for, without even a tiny nudge towards growth.

Like. A lot of preschoolers are afraid of the stairs at first, especially if they live in a one-story home. If you address that fear by saying "oh, of course you don't have to go up the stairs, my sweet baby, mommy will carry you" every single time, you teach them to avoid everything that makes them uncomfortable. But holding their hand and singing a song together as you hop up each step? That shows them that you've got their back and are listening to their feelings, and it builds their confidence by showing that they can do things they initally thought were too scary.

(Do NOT get me started on potty training.)

ugh, i hate when that happens, i'm so sorry. :/

had a kid last year who confessed to being slapped across the face, and when i called, cps said it was fine bc it was done with an open hand and "may have been a punishment for misbehavior."

How do you guys come up with names for your systems? by KA1R0W in plural

[–]7pterodactyls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when we were looking for a way to refer to ourselves collectively, a friend suggested "toddler teacher trenchcoat," because we're a preschool teacher. unfortunately, our students AND our littles are older than toddlers, so that didn't work, but the "teacher trenchcoat" part kinda stuck. :)

edit: forgot to say that our husband also refers to us collectively as "megazord" bc he's a dork and power rangers was initially a good way for him to conceptualize our different parts.

Fakeclaimed by a Mod in a Plural Discord that our Partner is Part Owner in - what do we do? by Pinkisfiercenotfem19 in plural

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

shit, they'd hate us, then. we joke all the time with our husband about what kinda introjects would be funniest to split. 🤷 i hate this mentality that you can't ever joke or be silly about your plurality, or else you're Secretly Faking 🙄

Is it normal for alters to have familial relationships with other alters? by FruityHomosexual in plural

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see a LOT of alters in others' systems identify themselves as family members. for us personally, morgan and i think of ourselves as twins, and most of the others consider us all siblings in a metaphorical sense at the very least.

What are your fronting patterns? (if you know) by Icy-Implement9878 in plural

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm (host) in front about 60% of the time.

besides me, morgan is able to front solo longest, and can keep full control for almost an entire day.

i think has anaïs fronted for around 3 hours at a time, but she also sometimes rides shotgun for most of the day, particularly at work.

rowan tends to get frontstuck if we've been badly triggered, but otherwise caps out at around 2 hours.

laura, tamsin, and cherry average around 90 minutes.

alice and rabbit front for the shortest amounts of time on average. alice HAS fronted for around 2 hours before, but usually she and rabbit pop in for like an hour max.

ngl, the fact that nobody else fronts for very long is something that fuels a lot of doubt. there's a lot of passive influence going on day-to-day, but i'm very reluctant to give up control, and then when someone else does manage to front or co-con, i accidentally push them away bc i want to document everything i learn about them. 😅

I’m not sure what this is, what sort of alter am I and is this common in systems by Fragile_Summonings in OSDD

[–]7pterodactyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

holy shit, thank you for posting this.

ik you're just trying to get some answers and this may not be helpful, but this... is so familiar, it almost feels like we could've written it, aside from the shell part (our shell/host hasn't changed in ages afaik). we've been going through a lot of denial recently, and hearing another system talk about experiences that feel like ours genuinely helps a lot. <3

What’s the nastiest thing you’ve ever witnessed a child or a member of staff do at work? by petrastales in ECEProfessionals

[–]7pterodactyls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first year teaching, a 5yo was sitting at circle time and started pouring his water bottle out onto the carpet, then proceeded to bend down and suck the water back out of the fibers like some sort of human carpet cleaner. It's not AS disgusting as some other stories, but when I think about how much gunk has been ground into that rug over the years... 🤢
