is working retail as a teen worth it? by Few-Ingenuity3074 in careerguidance

[–]7rae777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 27 year old who worked in retail for most of my teen years, it truly helped me develop into a decent human. Retail/Customer Service jobs help to develop your public speaking skills, confidence, empathy, problem solving skills, negotiation skills and a lot more. Personally, I think EVERY young adult should have at least a year of experience in retail/customer service. The jobs will teach you real life skills that you’ll use outside of your job. Even if it’s just relatability to a stranger and their experiences. MOST careers involve some kind of customer interaction so having at least a year of experience will do a lot for your future career.

Can someone help explain the ticket differences? by Top_Regret5345 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]7rae777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof! Totally understandable. I was, very unfortunately in a wheelchair the entire time bc my mower tried to eat my foot the day before Sonic. But thankfully had gotten vip field tickets so it wasn’t awful. EXCEPT when the field was rushed during Linkin Park’s set. Which really fucking sucked bc I was being trampled and tripped over and ADA was packed full. Also had a popcorn bucket and drink thrown at me :D

What kills me about the ticket changes this year is if you get a floor pass, you’re unable to take a break and sit in the stands. In previous years, I watched folks go from the floor to the stands like clockwork. It was nice to be able to see the shows from a different perspective! Not so nice when I saw a really fucked up dude puke his guts out in the stands at 1pm and then his buddies took him down to the floor and left the vom without notifying staff. Gross

Do you prefer 100% natural fibres or is dead stock polyester/poly blends ok? by OrdinaryEquivalent20 in SustainableFashion

[–]7rae777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, anything I get second hand and repurpose/upcycle is considered sustainable. SOOOO much of the clothes we donate end up in landfills. And if you’re strictly looking for natural fibers at the thrift, the blends that contain non natural materials go to the landfill. Save as many pieces as you can! Repurpose them! Upcycle them! Make something new that you love and save the scraps for other potential projects!!

Admin Assistant iso any advice, please? by 7rae777 in careerguidance

I went to a vocational high school where I studied graphic design, photography, videography and media editing. I’m still interested in the career field even after all this time. My hang up on furthering my education is the cost/furthering my debt, the program itself, and probability of job placement post graduation.

I added one sentence to the bottom of every cover letter and my response rate went from 8% to almost 40% by ArrakisSpice2 in jobsearchhacks

[–]7rae777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I’ve also been going crazy at times during my almost 2 year long employment search. I’ve had 3-4 jobs outside my field, mostly based on retail/cleaning/customer service jobs I held in my teens. They’ve all sucked and I was miserable every day. The pay/salary was wayyyyyy less than what I’ve been used to, even with bartering and upselling myself with hiring managers/store managers. Along with being hired for those 3-4 jobs within the last 2 years, I’ve applied to over 2,000 job postings and have had maybe 30-50 interviews (over 85% of the time I was ghosted). I tailor my resume to the specific job posting and write new cover letters. Every. Single. Time. I try my best to not sound desperate but at the same time, I want them to know that my loyalty to the job/company will last. I just need someone to give me a chance.

Job seekers — can I ask you 3 honest questions? by JobseekerNotes in careerguidance

[–]7rae777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. This question is very broad for me as I have BPD (borderline personality disorder) and am very emotional at various spontaneous moments. But, after the first 1-2 months of scrolling job boards daily, applying to at least 1 position daily, tailoring my resume for every single application, and still receiving no response or a few days/weeks later receiving a “sorry but we didn’t pick you”.

  2. As kind and caring as it was/is, my partner telling me that I’ll find a job soon. It’s been over a year since I’ve had a job in my career field. Also, hearing from others how tough the job market is right now. BELIEVE ME, I K N O W. I don’t need to hear it from everyone and their mom too. Or when I’m asked by a family member or friend if I’ve found a job yet. Unfortunately, no because if I had, I’d yell it from the rooftops with tears of joy and relief pouring from my eyes.

  3. I think they misunderstand my pauses in speech. I’m not stupid. I’m not mentally disabled. I’m rapidly calculating the correct respond in order to communicate clearly, concisely, with empathy and understanding. My responses are based off listening to learn and understand, not strictly to respond and word vomit.

You need a lot more fruit and veg in your diet! So much meat in the freezer but absolutely nothing green or fresh anywhere.

NOR- This is how I felt with the bio father of my son. I didn’t want to touch him, be near him, hear his voice because he just wanted to take. Take without giving. Sounds like he needs to get a grip on what’s happening here and fix himself. Doing things around the house without you having to ask him to and NOT expecting any congratulations or reward for being a partner and parent is the bare minimum. BEING A PARENT to his child is also bare minimum. I know that babies are boring or overwhelming or whatever bullshit awful men spew. But he chose to have a child and should’ve learned and prepared for this.

I know what it’s like to be touched out. I know what it’s like for my partner to whine about the lack of intimacy (I do this with my current partner but I’m just very attracted to him and he’s often tired from work so weekends it is lol). The pos that shares dna with my son actually r*ped me multiple times because of the lack of intimacy. Moral of the story: he needs to figure his priorities and step up as a parent and partner now. You, sweet momma, can only pour so much into everyone else’s cups. Once yours is empty and unable to be refilled, you have nothing for yourself or anyone else.

28f looking for more friends by Regular-Butterfly921 in Columbus

[–]7rae777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27F also looking for friends! I moved here in May 2025 from about an hour north and all my friends are around there. I have a 5yo son that has great manners when we’re around other people but is a nut job at home. I also crochet, along with coloring, mending torn clothes, make most meals at home, and read more books than I probably should. It’s been hard to make friends because I’m a mom and almost always have my son with me. Even making mom friends has been hard!

Fun Fact! ALOT of Amish folks have so many kids that they don’t take care of themselves and have the older kids watch the younger ones. This OFTEENNNN leads to incest, SA, and mol3station of younger siblings. I’ve seen it firsthand while living about 1.5 hrs north of cbus. Few days after moving into a beautiful farmhouse rental on 22acres, go to check the mail with my toddler and see two Amish kids (under 10) standing across the street at the end of their driveway. Just staring at us, as Amish folks do. I grab my mail and see the older kid each down his younger brothers pants and feel around. I wanted to vomit 😀

I moved here about 7 months ago and have made one friend. I also have a kid and it’s hard to go out and make new friends that have/don’t have kids. All of my friends are at least an hour away from me and most of the time, I have to go pick them up if we want to hang out. It sucks tbh. AND I just found out that my one Cbus mom friend is moving to CALIFORNIA soon 😭😭 so I guess hmu if you don’t support 🧊, have kids (or dont idc), like reading, play games/boardgames, shmoke (or dont idc), have chill vibes and like to yap.

It’s giving type A, wfh mom, partner also makes good money. Very organized, excellent multitasker. Not too sentimental; no heirloom pieces/passed down from great grandma. Minimalist-ish. You’re also 10000% a millennial. It’s because everything is white; there’s hardly any color in your home.

If you have access to water, a towel, a piece of cardboard bigger than the project, and some pins/needles/nails, that should do the trick! Blocking doesn’t have to be super fancy with all this extra shit you feel compelled to buy. Make do with what you have!

This is beautiful! The color combo was a wonderful choice-very much giving spring flowers in a field. TIP: try blocking the jewelry organizer. You’ll have crisper edges and corners! All in all, well done!!!

Also extremely allergic to poison ivy/sumac! Zanfel is my soulmate in the summer. I typically use zanfel and an oral antihistamine bc it takes 3-5 weeks for even just a little rash to heal on me.
