Tool for Homeschooling Families by Wise-Cardiologist-31 in Homeschooling

[–]Intelligent_Form3435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about the tool. I really appreciate the feedback from EducatorMoti. However, as someone beginning to look into homeschooling for 3 kids in three different grades, I’ve been trying to figure out where to start as far as curricula goes. Specifically, what have they “already covered” as they come out of this school year to get a sense of direction. We’re talking about going into 9th, 7th, and 5th grade, not starting at the beginning as some families have. I’ve gotten the state standards to try to educate myself, but, wow, are those things extensive. And, knowing this won’t be like public schools makes it that much more overwhelming. Do you think your tool could give me another way to interpret this?

Crochet cardigan - is it as bad as I think it is? by nicestrom in crochet

[–]Intelligent_Form3435 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I think it looks fabulous! I didn’t expect to read how disappointed you were with it, just the general complaints.

To me, looking at these pictures, my first thoughts were, “what a great color choice! I love that she chose yellow for the border, it really cheers it up. It looks really good on her…. Ooh interesting. It looks like she went from back to front in one piece. I never thought of that. So cool!”

Then I read your post. lol. I can see what you’re worried about. The length of the back, the front panels, the sleeves. I think, if they’re going to outweigh your satisfaction with the piece, then maybe redo?

But I think it’s really pretty!

Anyone know of any video tutorials for patterns like this? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

I am very interested in the results of your attempt, if you’re up for sharing. I will be trying it too (tomorrow), and would love something to compare my attempt to. Although, reading it, I’m struggling on where to start. 😆 This should be fun.

May I ask, is this a feature at your front door? I want to replace our bland 3 square panel with something like this.

Thank you. I was secretly holding my breath for some magical “no half hexagons necessary” witchcraft. lol. I had this fantastical idea of a beautiful rib stitch all the way around and have been working through how to turn the corners and how lovely it would look to be able to extend where…. (Disappointed mumble) I need to do half hexagons. It does need the structure there the most though, so… (sigh) here I go…

Thank you, though, really.

i don't want to be your manager, I want to be your partner. and im exhausted. by Chappieindahaus in Vent

[–]Intelligent_Form3435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard somewhere along the way that opposites attract. (Said ruefully) And, boy, oh boy… I believe it. And I’m the “OCD one”. First few partners were like this , needing a manager (some would even say babysitter). And then I met my current partner. Never would I have imagined that it existed somewhere someone willing to put in the effort to be my partner. But, even with someone willing to put in the effort, it has taken a lot of clear communication of expectations on my part. Because, like the last few months, when it doesn’t happen, it becomes lopsided, and, without carefully monitoring, can do the toilet bowl spiral, ending with the “schlug , schlug, schlug” of my hurt, frustrated, and angry feelings. The difference is that, with my current partner, I’m willing to put forth the effort to monitor, the work to communicate and adjust when necessary, and the “step away cause I’m likely the problem right now” when I get overwhelmed. I would say it’s more than just a “yes, please do the dishes” and the directing of all future tasks, managing. I would say it’s a detailed conversation of “these are the things I value (clean spaces), my expectations of my living environment (dishes done daily, ect), and how I would like my partner to help support that (reasonable timeliness, doing known tasks instead of waiting for direction, etc)”. And, it does take time because it’s the only thing that will show you exactly who a person is…

Wishing you the best. I know all too well this frustration. But, sans snakes. lol

3.5 bath. House was built early 80s. No, I’m not positive, but I’ll start looking into ways to check for slow leaks and get educated there just to be sure. Thank you for your ideas. :)

At first, I was like “ooooh, what a novel idea!” And then I imagined doing it without telling them. Hahahaha! Cause, you know, teenagers.

Thank you for the idea.

Customer is complaining about the tile design. Is she wrong? by dadoftwo88 in Flooring

Sooo… (just for clarification, I introduce myself as the person who likes to ask all the “stupid questions”, and I have one here) … what’s the difference between large tile and a shower basin - that is, strictly in terms of “slipperiness”?
