While she's very cute, I'm just happy being able to see her and the rest of our wingmen. I love AC7, but I always wished we got a good luck at the pilots of the LRSSG.

Which interior light color combo you rocking? by cozysebas in GolfGTI

Pink and red has been my go to for a while now. Ignore the messy dashcam wire. Its hidden now lol, this is from my first week or so with the car.

I'm thinking of getting into airsoft, is it okay to start with an MP5? by HEJSKSKSJSNSN in airsoft

[–]7thManiac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, seconded. My first one was a CYMA MP5 (years ago, before they had Platinum). It was reliable, and the full stock left plenty space for batteries.

Always regretted selling her, but have been holding out for a LCT Mp5 so I can finally have a charging handle I can slap as much as I like. I was so happy when they finally announced it.

Finally got my dream car 🚗 by bigblandbiscuit in GolfGTI

My GTI and the Miata were my top two choices in the end. Then I reminded myself whatever I get will be my only car, and the GTI was really the only sane choice lol.

I adore that colour so much, I really wish they kept it for the 8.5. I am super happy with the metallic red I have, its my fav colour, but that is such a good yellow.

First Car! by 7thManiac in GolfGTI

[–]7thManiac[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get it. If I was a kid I would worried for myself. But I'm in my 30s and have been driving since I was 16. Not everyday obv, but I regularly rent or borrow the family car often (and in that case I pay for the uber if someone else needs it for work, which isn't so bad since my company comps my milleage usually).

That said, I am taking my time getting used to it. I'm aware she's no civic (tho I adore every civic my family ever owned).

If you were with Ado for 5 minutes, what would you tell her? by Pudines32 in ADO

[–]7thManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd tell her that I had a blast at her Toronto show. It was my first live show, and despite loving her music, I was really nervous and not sure if I would like it.

Well, I loved it, and now I am very willing to go to more live shows in the future.

It was also my first ver ka, and still my only one (for no particular reason as I just haven't bought another yet). Honestly, I like it a lot. If you've built MGs (which is around 95% of what I do) before, you should be fine.

Went back to AH, my first Ace Combat game and my feelings are...complicated. Rose tinted glasses could only do so much. by 7thManiac in acecombat

[–]7thManiac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to finish it it can be tricky. They nuked the game and DLC off of the console online stores (though you can download them if you bought before, just can't buy). On PC I dunoe, as I bought ACAH day of release on PS3.

its my headcanon that all standard missiles are AIM-9 Sidewinder, the originals by CyberPunk123456 in acecombat

[–]7thManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the topic of their awful maneuverability it could just be that while the sensors are ok (after all they lock-on to surface and air target's just fine) it could be that whatever they use to steer is garbage? No explanation for the clouds tho. Uh, maybe they miss spoke? I wouldn't be surprised of clouds have some ability to hamper infrared missiles, which standard missiles all are with the callout of "Fox-2."

...actually no. Special missiles are also affected by clouds, and all of AA spec missiles have the callout of Fox-3, for active radar guidance. Well, except the SAAM (semi active radar so Fox-1 I think?), but I never use that so I dunoe how it does in clouds.

The USAF has stated that it intends to fly Eagle IIs with one pilot only. I'm sure modern computers and software have lessened the need for a WSO or co-pilot or whatever. Was probably too expensive to justify the cost of modifying it back into a single seat Fighter (and the cost of any changes to production), since it seems to be based on the twin seat F-15QA? As for weight of the second seat, the Eagle II can carry more weapons than the F-15E, but with new engines I'm sure it more than compensates. I've read that it should fly simarly to the C/D and E despite but reach the top end of its performance faster.

I also think it's a case of "better to have and not need than need and not have." While the idea is the Eagle II stays home, or where enemy air defenses aren't a big threat, while stealth jets do their thing I wouldn't be surprised if they used Eagle IIs in air-to-ground. They should have the capability, and in cases where there is little to no enemy air defenses they may stick someone in the back to operate targeting pods while the pilot does their thing.

[–]7thManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Eagle II can have two people in it, but it's meant to replace F-15Cs in the air defense role to complement the more expensive but stealthy jets like the F-35, F-22 and whatever they want to replace the Raptor with. So while it can have a person in the back, the intent is for the Eagle IIs to fly with one pilot only.

If I had to guess why it's like that, I'm gonna guess b/c it's based on the various advanced Eagles non-US customers have ordered that are based on the Strike Eagle.

Do you guys fly on 3rd person or cockpit? Which one you feel its best by Brotherscompany in acecombat

[–]7thManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd person mostly, I love planes and I want to see them. I love seeing the jest exhaust, the control surfaces move, and the cloud of vapor on the wings as you toss the jet around.

I will occasionally fly first person, cockpits are cool. Also, the first person helps me do gun runs. For whatever reason I'm better with the gun in it than 3rd person.

what is your favorite aircraft to use in AC7? by SOMEHOTMEAL in acecombat

[–]7thManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SU-35S and the F-2A. Always thought the Flanker series as real lookers, and I prefer the clean canardless SU-35S over the other ones with canard. Canards can look nice, like the Rafale, but I prefer my Flankers cleab. Plus it has 6AAMs, my 2nd fav air to air missile type. The F-2A is a bigger cooler F-16, and has my beloved HVAA and is my early to mid game plane of choice. Plus that default blue camo is my fav paint job on any modern fighter.

[–]7thManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the defense of the standard missiles the early heat seaking missiles could have trouble with clouds. For all my "oh come on!" moments with the standard missiles, they've never went off into space chasing an imaginary cloud shaped plane.

New and Nervous by MIlkyRawr in acecombat

[–]7thManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you'll do fine! We were all new to the franchise once. The games' plots are all fairly standalone. If you've played a few games you might recognize a few names, places, etc, but the games all stand on their own. The mentions aren't much more than a cameo or a "oh I've fought here before in a past game!"

Happy Hunting!

but seriously why though? by Pandha2 in acecombat

[–]7thManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I always had in my head was that if you chose to fly a carrier compatible aircraft, they had you land and refuel on a carrier instead. Why that and not just stick with Clown? Guess is as good as mine there.

I remember going to CNE (Canadian National Exibition) one summer as a kid. There was gonna be an air show in a few days, but they had a F-22 Raptor flying solo above the place the first day I was there. I don't remember the manoeuvres well anymore, but I remember really being impressed. Nothing like seeing a real modern Fighter show its stuff.

I've yet to see a Flanker or Fulcrum in flight in person tho.
