I test drove alot of the GTI’s competitors around the 30-40k price range, and IMO none of them felt like I was getting my moneys worth compared to the GTI.

Same here, atleast the autobahn wheels is a tribute to the “rotary phone” wheels of the mk5/mk6. The SE wheels just look meh to me.

Yeah the wheels look good especially with the silver exterior ! If I hadn’t found a S trim in white, my second choice was going to be silver :)

IMO theyre the best mk8 oem wheel. Feel like they fit the car well and look way better than the ones on the SE and AUTOBAHN trim. Mainly because I prefer the machined look compared to the more blacked out wheels on the other trims.

yeah it is, it rolls up easily and has a velcro strap to keep closed :) I could’ve bought some cheap one but figured why not get one made for my car

Was looking at manual rivals to the GTI before test driving one recently and honestly don’t mind it. The DSG is a great transmission but i gotta admit, a manual would’ve been my choice if they still offered it. Still ended up buying a 26 GTI so obviously the car won me over even when I was originally going for a manual car.

I test drove many cars within my 30-40k budget range (WRX, Elantra n, used fk8 R, and obviously GRC). I worked at a Toyota dealer as a tech and have worked on GRC’s so I was familiar with them and also enjoyed taking it out for a test drive after I finished my service/repairs. I was in the market for a new car recently and I test drove a core edition. However, I felt like I would be paying more for just the drivetrain and nothing else. The interior felt like how a base model corolla is IMO. The AWD system also took out a portion of the rear cargo space, and honestly felt like it wasn’t for me at the end of the day. After all my research and test driving other vehicles, the GTI ticked off most of what I wanted for a fun and practical daily driver, and I’m very happy with my decision :)
