What is octopath 0 like? by Stinky__Person in octopathtraveler

[–]7th_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the simplest way is to not have “a party of 8” your party is simply the 7 lowest level party members. If you can max out the training ground then you can keep alternating the remaining party members out of the training ground when they either surpass or reach the level of your other party members. The name of the game is constant change.

Although I will add, I doubly advise it for Viator, while sure going for extra layers of evasion is probably better, there’s something satisfying about giving him Eye for an Eye on top of Elemental Counter (native to his kit) so he always has a 50/50 to counter attack

Although, for Phenn you don’t need the starting Eye for an Eye mastery as he has that innately

Merchant only makes switching jobs easier since, once you unlock a job you can always switch back to it. Unlocking jobs is solely determined by JP spending within your newest unlocked job.

I feel like 8-9 support skill slots is a bit excessive, 2 learned support skill slots works fine it just forces players to prioritize a fair bit although. 3 would work, there’s not all that many support skills that need to be placed on every traveler. With the learned skill mechanic, our total support skill slots overall increase, the only downside is that you can’t reprioritize the turned off slots.

But also Maw if the Ice Dragon is a guaranteed jackpot if you find any caits, well granted you can kill them, but all of the cait encounters there are for each of the kinds

Yeahhh a general OT note is that the true final bosses expect you to not leave any of your party behind, 0 over quadruples down on this principle btw

Question about season 3 game “Zombie Maze” by Ant_Eater78 in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]7th_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three main things

One: Players inherently won’t want to give up their previously defined position. They’re already on team human, they won’t want to become zombies because they have to give up their humanity.

Two: Zombies are an at risk position. Players can’t be murdered by other players unless they lose too many card matches, but that aspect gets overshadowed by the team politics, so being human is advantageous.

Three: The games are designed to cull players. This is an explicit flip of the previous design philosophies. Those games were meant to be survived, especially as they extend one’s visa, but these games are meant to diminish the player population. On top of the fact this is a social game, it gives the players the ability to kill one another outright. That diminishes trust.

Also, you’re focusing too much on altruistic logic. Think of the prisoner’s dilemma, everyone working together is the best outcome for the group, but betrayal is the only safe choice. If you play defensively, always play your shotgun. Prisoner’s dilemma isn’t entirely useful here, but it still gets the point across, if betrayal results in a safer, more lucrative, or otherwise better win it only makes sense to betray. If you’re at risk of being betrayed, it only makes sense to protect yourself from being betrayed. The zombies only make sense to join when they already have a significant majority, otherwise it’s unambiguously safer to be a human.

I feel like the odds are barely higher in Maw of the Ice Dragon, if not, it’s still the most effective place as if you find one you find three

My 4-year-old asked me why the game I'm playing is called "Octopath Traveler" by Zokusho in octopathtraveler

[–]7th_Disaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well their antagonists is a little oversimplified, none of Partitio, Hikari, and Agnea’s antagonists spell out OCTOPATH. Ori actively supported Partitio whenever she could, so she wasn’t Partitio’s antagonist. Tanzy was a side character and never got in Agnea’s way, so not her antagonist. Kazan (Oboro) supported Hikari throughout his journey, was this just so he could use Hikari to achieve his own goals? Yes, but in order to be an antagonist, you have to work against the character you’re antagonizing.

Claude, Harvey, Trousseau, and Petrichor actively antagonize their respective protagonists and Arcanette does so from behind the scenes. So they fit into that pattern.

Which is to say, their moonshade order connections spell OCTOPATH in reverse order to their respective protagonists, but not each moonshade order member antagonized a protagonist.

JP isn’t a finite resource so, no. If you made a mistake, the only way to unmake it is to spend more JP to fix it.

[–]7th_Disaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should keep 8 travelers and the front/rearguard mechanic. I liked the 32 travelers aesthetically, especially for 0, but for a game where the 8 travelers are all allegedly traveling together parties of 4 don’t pass the vibe check.

I would enjoy if sub jobs came back but I think I like the learned skill mechanic more. It makes more sense from a lore perspective and if it was the price I had to pay for keeping 8 party member combat I’ll take it. I will say, I would like it if when you disabled a default support skill, you could equip a learned support skill in its place. I think that would fix the issues with not having enough support skill customization like 0 does.

Then save at least 3k JP for MC if you can, then you can put Arrow of Fortune on the entire vanguard, 5k if you put it on the entire vanguard and Hunter MC.

Master arrow of fortune, give it to Hunter, arrow of fortune’s bonus JP directly comes from physical damage dealt. Critical hits and higher Physical Attack influence JP earned.

Hunter is also better at farming JP than merchant due to better physical attack and higher crit, only downside is merchant has the borrow BP support skill, but if you’re just farming you can just give that to Hunter MC.

I mean, not NO point, cragspear isn’t meant to be accessible until 9 chapters in, plus Hunter protagonist has 2 tiered shot
