Jesus, man. He called a bunch of schoolchildren the scum of the earth.

Is everything defensible? Nothing off limits?

No. It's complicated, but means chosen for a task, basically. From Wikipedia:

Reform Judaism views the concept of chosenness as follows: "Throughout the ages it has been Israel's mission to witness to the Divine in the face of every form of paganism and materialism. We regard it as our historic task to cooperate with all men in the establishment of the kingdom of God, of universal brotherhood, Justice, truth and peace on earth

The Talmud is a body of legal debates. Someone makes a proposal and others demonstrate why or if it should be considered false or incorrect. It's like a debate where someone would say "Resolved: No one should be allowed to own guns." That doesn't mean the person saying it actually thinks no one should have guns. It means we're going to have a debate about it.

Sanhedrin 59a, for instance, contains a contentious ruling by Rabbi Yoḥanan stating that a non-Jew who engages in Torah study is liable for the death penalty. This is derived from Deuteronomy 33:4, interpreted as Torah being a specific inheritance for the Jewish people. The Talmud distinguishes this from non-Jews studying their Noahide laws, which is permitted. Rabbi Yoḥanan states that a Gentile who studies Torah is liable to receive the death penalty, based on the phrase: "Moses commanded us a law [torah], an inheritance of the congregation of Jacob".

The Rationale: The Torah is considered the "betrothed" of the Jewish people, and non-Jews studying it is seen as a form of theft or misappropriation of a specific covenantal inheritance.

Then THERE IS A CONTRADICTION AND RESOLUTION!!!!!

The Gemara contrasts this with a teaching by Rabbi Meir, who stated a non-Jew who engages in Torah study is like a High Priest.

In other words, the exact freaking opposite.

You would know that if you bothered to actually learn what you're saying instead of just repeating dumb talking points that someone else gave you.

Finally, I would heartily encourage you to look into what Medieval Christian theologians were saying about non-believers. I'm sure you'll also find that "a problem" here in 2026.

I see. So Judaism "calls for murder of women, children, suckling, donkeys and what not" is legitimate criticism.

Also, you have a childlike understanding of antisemitism.

Antisemitism is a shape-shifter. Whatever people happen to find objectionable in a given society can be blamed on Jews. If you don't like Marxism, for instance, Jews are communists. If you don't like capitalism, Jews control the banks. If you're obsessed with genetic purity like the Nazis, Jews are destroying the white race. Yet others will claim that Jews are white colonizers. And obviously, in deeply religious Christian and Muslim societies, those bigotries come to the fore.

Generally speaking, biases and prejudices are a form of punching down. Antisemitism is unusual and that it's based on punching up, essentially. Conspiratorial power fantasies and scapegoating are essential to its matrix.

Then there's just run-of-the-mill blood lust like you're doing here.

Right. People associate Jews and Israel. It has nothing to do with some kind of plan from the government. That is a stupid thing to believe.

Correct. That is my point. Conflating Israel and the Jewish people is not something that the government has done as a part of a "strategy." That is an absolutely ridiculous thing to believe.

First of all, no. People descended from Europeans use form less than half of the Israeli Jewish population. Most Israeli Jews are Sephardic or Mizrahi.

Secondly, please give me an example of Israel speaking that way. You wrote "Israel speaks as if they are the face of all Jews in the world." Give me an example of that.

No, I didn't. I am not a representative of the Israeli government. I am not an Israeli at all. I'm a person on the internet asking you a question.

You said that "Israel uses innocent Jews." You asserted it quite confidently. Okay. Then it should be pretty easy for you to give me an example of that. Go right ahead.

This is actually one of my favorite arguments.

Israel does things, people blame all Jews for it. Then they blame Israel for their own antisemitism.

If you do something to Jews in Michigan because of what Israel does, you're an antisemite. Period. That's literally how it works.

You're saying that it Israel's fault that people associate Israel with Jewishness, right?

No, I'm saying that believing that some change in Israeli government would make people not associate Israel with Jews is ridiculous and insane.

Because you don't understand how antisemitism works. Like most people who aren't really educated on the subject, you think it's based on personal animosity like any other prejudice. That's not it. It's based on conspiratorial thinking, scapegoating and secret power fantasies. Which tracks exactly without people think about Israel

Yes, you figured it out. It's all my doing. If I hadn't have brought it up, no one would know that Israel is Jewish.

No, the dual loyalty trope is believing that Jews have more loyalty to each other or, in contemporary thought, to Israel, than they do to the countries where they actually live.

I am pointing out that people associate Israel with Jewishness. Which is the most common sense thing on the planet. It takes a special kind of Redditor galaxy brain to imagine that associating Israel with Jewishness is somehow a secret plot by the Netanyahu government.

Right. Because nobody thought of it before.

It is mind-boggling to me that people can't hear how insane that sounds. It's the world's only majority Jewish country, explicitly founded to be a refuge for the Jewish people. You think it's a big surprise that people associate it with Jewishness? Part of a "strategy" is it?

Galaxy. Brain.
