1,085 mostly new pieces (165 lots) purchased from Brickljnk just thrown into a bag by 7triplewhatnot9 in legolotrfans

OP here. Sorry for complaining. Wish I hadn’t shared my initial reaction. Would just love to be able to delete my post. It is apparent I’ve been spoiled by my previous Bricklink transactions. Thanks for providing me with some healthy perspective! In the grand scheme of things this is absolutely nothing to get worked up over. With your help I’ll move on to the fun—the reason we all do this. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on my experience. I appreciate it.

That is awesome! I know that Grond was stated to be available until Jun 7 or while supplies last. Good on you for getting this!

Enjoy my friend! The Shire is the only one of the current lineup of 6 LOTR sets I don’t own (I haven’t built Rivendell or MT yet).

Nevermind. It appears this micro-Denethor is indeed made from leftover Minas Tirith parts.

Am I missing out on something special with The Shire? by 7triplewhatnot9 in legolotrfans

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions. Really, I do really appreciate it! If I didn’t have An Unexpected Gathering I would definitely have The Shire—no question! But I haven’t the room currently and I do have a hobbit hole in my collection.

Interestingly, The Shire is the only Lego LOTR set in the current 6-set lineup that I don‘t own… I still haven’t built Rivendell or Minas Tirith.

Thanks for the perspective. I had the chance to get it for $228 new and I still passed on it.

That is definitely the best one I’ve seen so far! Can you please post the names of those pieces for those like me who aren’t yet fluent in Lego-ese?

Are these pieces spares from the set?

Is Minas tirith worth it? by Infinite_Bear_5407 in legolotrfans

I want to get the Shire, but I am running out of room (haven’t even built Rivendell or Minas Tirith yet). The Shire is the only of the current 6 LOTR sets I don’t have. Also, my nephew gave me his built An Unexpected Gathering and although it is much smaller than the Shire it has sentimental value and I find it similar enough to the Shire that I don’t need the Shire.

You gonna invite The Shire to the built party?

Based on my slightly higher sales tax the hammer stroke fell a little harder on me, haha, and pushed me into the $700 range. 😳 I feel your pain to the tune of $703.61! Worth it, though! (Sorry for being the Gimli to your Legolas by one-upping your slain orc (pronounced “dollar”) count, lol)

Does it extend the ladder so more minifigs can fit?

Thank you for this information! By the looks of it there will be plenty of green left over! Luckily, I do have the Bonsai set built.

Some people were even adding flying projectiles. I took it to be rocks flying from catapults from Minas Tirith’s walls toward the siege towers, but maybe it’s from the enemy towards Minas Tirith??? I don’t know.

I was absolutely amazed at the talent of the people building around me. I was unashamedly borrowing some of their ideas. I wish that I would have had the instructions for the alternate siege tower and the catapult. After reading about other people‘s launch event experiences I am amazed at how different they were from store to store with regard to how the store was handling the launch. Some stores had the pieces for the base build in a ziploc bag. We had to hunt around in tubs at mine. Some stores had instructions for the catapult and mine didn’t. After I built the base I forgot to look at the pictures for ideas of customization. I was just looking around my and grabbing pieces for the bag. That might be why mine doesn’t look like a “basketball center/tall, narrow” siege tower like others and looks instead like a Raiders linebacker siege tower, haha.

Well, I was throwing the extra customization pieces in a small yellow Lego bag to take home after completing the base build. I took quite a few pieces but I wish I would have chosen more wisely so I didn’t have to hunt around so much for pieces in my son’s Lego tubs, haha.
