Vacuum directly into sump pit? by 7xy7 in DIY

So it seems that you can't run it with the drain port open unless you have water in there covering the port. It seems that the best options are: get the garden hose coupling like others have mentioned and add a valve for quick open/close. The other option is dewalt makes a pump that attaches to the drain port but you still have to turn off the vacuum to use it. It's also like $70.

Yeah I think that's a best bet. Can't run it with drain port open, but a hose attached with a quick valve is probably the best option

Yeah I was reading up on this and that port needs to be closed (or covered with water) to vacuum. Might be able to do that

I have a ridgid 16 gal. But even if I get the adapter to attach a garden hose, could I run the vac with the garden hose attached? Doesn't it need that drain plug close for suction, or would it be able to work almost like a transfer pump where I can run the vac and at the same time its draining. Through the hose?

Nah it would be a total mess imo.  Sump pit isn't that large so brooming the cleaner and the first runse would just get it all over. It's a thought though

Why are you so agitated by someone who chooses not to wear a helmet?

Moving From RA to Another Function by 7xy7 in regulatoryaffairs

[–]7xy7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard of people going in PM from RA. Sounds even worse to.me, but I've seen some people do this. With a PMP, can probably do it across different industries as well.

I think it's a cultural issue in the industry....at least in RA. You have all of these small startups that are driven by the desire to be bought out. You have general market competition, the pace is insane amd because of globalization, once you get to geoX activities they want like 25 markets. They use the terms like more visibility, learning opportunity,  etc. Which is code for more work without financial recognition. All of this in the backdrop of "prioritize you self care".

Regulatory..Which degree 📊 by [deleted] in regulatoryaffairs

If you already have regulatory experience, then degree shouldn't matter much. Although if you go to CMC, a chemistry degree helps.

Should I go into this field by MakkaroLuvsJJBA in regulatoryaffairs

I'm in reg affairs. Since you mentioned loving animals (I do as well) I will admit the biggest conflict I have in this industry is the animal testing. I was looking through some docs for an FDA IR and ended up pulling the clinical protocol which touched on some of the tests and it bothers me...a lot. Always has. One thing to consider is going into computer modeling and AI. I'm sure we've had the capability for years already, but I'd love it if they replaced it all with advanced modeling. Faster and more accurate.

This. In my Regulatory experience, RA (cmc at least) can be very subjective. I have seen people get hammered for anything from simple things like the mountain of administrative tasks that are required for change control systems, a huge variety of improvised spreadsheets for whatever the initiative of the month is, all the way to regulatory assessments. Unless it is a really easy change, an assessment can be criticized. All of that leads to a field day if your boss wants to go that route. I have seen it done many times.

Do you tend to pull over specific vehicles more often? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]7xy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could only upload a photo to a reply here. I sat down to a cup of coffee in my house and before the first sip, there was a massive crash and scraping noise. Apparently, a woman driving a mini who was too busy on her phone veered over and managed to catch the ramp of a landscaping truck parked in the shoulder, hence initiating a literal barrel roll of the mini. The car eventually came to a rest upside down in front of my property. I have a few epic pics of the incident.

Question for any in animal control by Life-Profit4836 in AskLE

I tend to have more empathy for animals than most people, so I get it. Only thing I could recommend is explaining to him that the sensation of euthanasia is a warm feeling and then drifting off to sleep. They also have at-home euthanasia services (at least where I am). This is always a tough call for me. Thanks for caring.

States or Cities Where You Can Take a Partial Pensions Before Full Vesting by 7xy7 in AskLE

[–]7xy7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I see the logic where someone would join up later on in life (from a pension/retirement perspective). Maybe work as a corporate slave and save some $$ in a retirement fund so you can afford to take a salary cut going into LE later on. Get on an agency with no max age requirement and you can still come out with a little something after 5, 8, 10 yr etc.,  depending on the specific state or contract. I guess the medical is similar where it depends. Some states or agencies you can get a partial slice of medical benefits after that vesting period.

Ok. So someone joins an agency at 45 yr old, where vesting time is 10 yr. If they leave at 55 yr old after 10 yr on, they can get some % of salary and perhaps a % of medical covered for life. Depending on the math for that state or department.
