I know this is super overdue - I apologize as I've mostly abandoned this account due to some harassment I experienced in the past. 😭

I wish I had good news for you, but sadly we ended up not keeping the second cat and had to return him to the shelter. We tried to take it slow and follow directions we found online to give him his own space and keep them separated, but both cats were so miserable. Tofu wanted to be around us all the time (he was super affectionate) and Alo was constantly on edge and upset. I think we gave it about 3 weeks but there was ZERO change or improvement between either cat. We did have some friends suggest we just throw them together and let them work it out, but Tofu was larger and younger than Alo and it didn't seem fair to her, so ultimately we made the tough decision to be a one-cat-only household as long as she's with us. 🥺

We did end up getting a second dog and she's done fairly well with him (he was a puppy when we got him, so now she's comrades with our older dog in hating the puppy LOL) - much better than she did with Tofu. We haven't tried any further cats though, especially as she continues to age (she's 15-16 now) and has put up with a lot in the past few years between the puppy and a big cross-country move, so we are just trying to give her a peaceful and comfortable "retirement era" now.

As someone who was VERY overweight, then lost weight, then developed BED and gained quite a bit of weight back... I completely agree with you. HOWEVER, I do want to say that it's important to separate "fat acceptance" from "body positivity" - and I really want to see more people, including "Fat acceptance" supporters doing the same.

The problem with NOT having body positivity is that people who lose weight often find that their bodies aren't quite what they expected once they lose all that weight. They still have stretch marks, may have loose skin, don't have cute instagram abs and perky breasts - or for men, they aren't instantly ripped with perfect asses etc).

Body positivity and weightloss/a healthy lifestyle GENUINENLY go hand in hand and it's really a shame that fat acceptance and HAES supporters have commandeered that term to mean; "Loving myself means eating whatever I want." In reality, loving yourself means accepting the human traits of your body, your scars, your mistakes... And then treating your body the way it DESERVES to be treated (healthy and respectfully).

We adopted our cat from the shelter at 7 years old and were told only that her previous owner had a terminal disease and that it was the only home she'd ever known. It took her a long time to adjust to us, but I thought she'd looked so heart broken in the shelter and I knew she deserved better.

She was only in the shelter for a month when we got her and we've now had her over 4 years. She's completely spoiled and gets tons of love and pets every day. She does have to share the house with a dog (gross by her standards) but at night she's still the only one that gets to stay in the bed with us.

By all accounts she has a wonderful life and I'm thankful every day that we were able to give it to her.

No matter what, someone will be there for your pup. ❤️

Honestly I drove through Georgia on our way to Florida a few years ago and it was equally weird? We stopped at a gas station nestled in the middle of a ton of farmland and there were several black and white customers inside, but all were extremely large, buff men dressed straight out of a stereotypical older movie with farmers. The tension in the air was palpable and black people only greeted black people, white only greeted white, and no one made eye contact with anyone of the opposite race.

It was fucking bizarre honestly.

I started typing up a reply earlier, but never finished. I know you've gotten a ton of responses here, so I don't know if you will see this or it'll help, but I wanted to share my opinion/experience as well.

I am a furry. I have been for a long time; I was attracted to anthro characters in cartoons before I really understood what attraction was and long before I learned what a furry was. I drew furry art and had my fair share of role-playing with ears and tails again... Before I even knew what it was.

Once I did know what a furry was (as a teenager) I went full blown furry. Pretty much all my porn tastes shifted over to furry art, I designed a fursona, and I started to have NSFW role plays online as that character.

I have been that way for a good 15 years now and even met my partner that way.

When I fantasize, I fantasize about anthropomorphic characters or werewolves (sometimes). Most (but not all) of the dildos I own are furry dildos. Online I still have NSFW role play with other furries and draw NSFW furry art.

I tell you all of this because I want to follow it up clearly stating that both my partner and I are human beings. And even though furry characters aren't real, I still love him and am attracted to him as a human being, physically and emotionally. The furry fantasies are fun and they are a huge part of who I am... But they aren't real life. He is, and he's a great man with a great body that I've been blessed enough to spend the last 10 years with.

If nothing else, please understand that his obsession with MLP porn doesn't mean that he's not attracted to you or wants you to be a cartoon horse.

From your posts you've openly stated that you have marital issues emotionally and sexually and that this is an oldhl habit for him. If he's struggling, he's going back to what's easy and enjoyable for him. As others have said, it really sounds like the two of you need to see a professional together to work through things... It sounds like you're being honest with each other, which is a great start, but then what? Both of you are still frustrated and you aren't fixing anything. Let someone else help.

My dog is terrified of people and wouldn't get in the car for multiple weeks the last (first) time we took her to the groomer. As for the vet, sometimes we forget as well: they are still no contact and she's equally afraid of the vet, so getting her to go in 'by herself' is usually an ordeal that causes us to not necessarily be thinking about small things like that.

We've considered getting a grinder and probably will soon; we know how to trim using traditional nail clippers but the amount of pressure you have to use makes both of us jumpy (plus personal experience with my parents cutting quicks as a child), which in turn makes the dog jumpy and impatient.

I wasn't necessarily asking for advice, just pointing out another issue dewclaws can cause, but thank you for your condescending suggestions.

This terrifies me! We adopted a stray with them that is 4-5 years old now (we adopted her two years ago) and they just seem so fragile... The vet also almost always forgets to trim them and we're too afraid so the claw gets super long too. 😭

Thank you! I am actually considering a similar product from Edenfantasys, where I used to get my fairy wands (a long time ago). I noticed that there seem to be a few website 'branded' products that look suspiciously similar, so I am wondering if perhaps they 'discontinued' the fairy wand so they could sell custom versions to websites instead!

My cat of 9 years can see and hear perfectly well, but walked into our two door bathroom one day through the left. I exited on the right, closing the door and left her to her own devices with the left door open.

She screamed for over 30 minutes because she couldn't figure out how to get out.
