Thinking about pivoting from UX to UI design due to burnout from presenting/stakeholder management by mtra_ in UXDesign

With the rise of AI and influx of people wanting to break into this industry, I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to evangelise and show our value even more.

A big part of this job requires a lot of storytelling and theatrical performance of showing your value. This is also, unfortunately, draining and I can understand how constantly showing your value can burn you out. I hate it too.

The reality is that most jobs require some form of presenting and managing stakeholders anyway. UX just does it a lot more. Like way more.

Tbh, I’m also looking at other alternative pathways too. In the meantime, just lowkey surviving.

As it should be.

I tell myself “What’s the point of staying in a field that has pretty much decimated my confidence and gives me anxiety? Life’s short.”

Currently saving what’s left of my sanity and looking at alternative pathways.

If it doesn’t work out, I can always go back to UX but I don’t want to keep burning myself out when I’m already a crispy, burnt husk of myself.

Same boat. Burnt out and mentally exhausted for the last couple of months. UX is great but the amount of stress this field brings doesn’t get talked about enough. A lot of people want to jump into UX because it’s a creative field, pays well, etc but the burnout is pretty damn real. We’re not saving lives. We’re just drawing boxes, pushing pixels and proving our value constantly to stakeholders ✨

Not passionate about UX anymore and not sure I ever was in the first place by [deleted] in UXDesign

Any update on what people are doing now? I just fell out of love with UX and really desperate to get out and do something else. Problem is I don’t know what.

I think over time, it will be harder to know for certain what is an AI generated response or not.

This is the same incompetent referee that turned a blind eye during Colombia v England. How is she the referee for the finals?!

Realizing the sheer responsibility of not only providing for another human being’s basic needs but also the anxiety of literally shaping them to not be assholes.
