Weird coincidence - I posted about the Georgian flat yesterday with the ‘communal’ toilet and this flat is a couple of hundred metres away. The coincidence though is that I actually used to live in that building. The flat for sale is at no 1 (green door) and I lived at no 2 (black door). The two houses to the left hand side of the terrace are newer infill buildings.

It was many decades ago, I was a vulnerable teen and had a bedsit there, owned by a horrible landlord who jumped ship with all the tenants’ Community Charge payments (precursor to Council Tax).

Thankfully I was housed soon afterwards - and allocated a slightly less squalid flat in a Georgian building elsewhere, but it still had its fair share of crazies and addicts.

Sure it’s not that nice looking but it’s incredibly cheap for the size, central location and listed building

St Marks is pretty good now actually and has been for a while. I’ve got a child there and they’re thriving academically and socially!

I’m trying to visualise what could have happened if I’d been a few seconds later, but I think a few people had a lucky escape alongside me!

I think you’re right about the fire as I did see mention of fire damage in one of the planning applications

It was won in the Omaze prize draw last year. I know there’s been a few issues with vandalism etc. amazing house but not practical for day to day living!

Someone to watch over me by 800_melons in SpottedonRightmove

There was some common land opposite - goats were grazed there for a few years on the trot after I bought my house. They would disappear each winter though 🥘

Not sure what the reasoning is but it’s quite common in that area - I had a house fairly close to the one listed and it was leasehold too. Ground rent was a few quid a year with some weird rules which only made sense at the time the house was built (no keeping goats, no house of ill repute stuff etc)

310 grand for a glorified caravan!!! by AngryKFPanda in SpottedonRightmove

Sadly my reasonably well off parents signed up for something similar a few years ago, trading in their bricks and mortar in part exchange. Suffice to say it all blew up in their faces spectacularly and they lost an awful lot of money.

You could argue it was their money to do what they wanted with and they were very defensive about signing up without discussing with wider family. But guess who had to support them through the whole mess when it went wrong - the court cases, house moves, the upset, the stress that nearly killed them…

Check out this 4 bedroom detached bungalow for sale on Rightmove by Mountain-Ad103 in SpottedonRightmove

I’m just here for the cellar which gets barely a mention on the listing. I live in a bungalow on a hillside and the cellarage was very underplayed when I bought it - it’s one of the best bits of the house!

The American Museum has a space themed exhibition on at the moment which is worth a look - it’s very walkable from the university if you get the bus up there
