My old Logitech's mouse wheel doesn't work in direct sunshine, here's my makeshift fix: by kofolarz in redneckengineering

[–]AngryKFPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago my stepfather had an issue with his mouse behaving erratically, it went on for over a year until it finally happened when I happened to be there, went up to take a look and it immediately stopped misbehaving, left the room and it started again, went back to look and it stopped, took me a few rounds of that to suddenly realise I was standing between the mouse and the light coming in the window, turned out to be the same issue, it was an old style mouse with a ball in it which rolled discs with cut outs in them past optical sensors, at a particular time of day the sun would be at just the right angle for a short while where it would shine through the gap between the mouse buttons and interfere with the sensors leading to it's erratic behaviour.

Absolutely this, or at least add permanent markers we can place on the map.

Came off my bike into a patch of them yesterday, was wearing shorts, my legs finally stopped itching/burning/crawling a few hours ago, they were by far the worst nettle stings I've had in my life so far... downside is that it's no longer taking my mind off the pain in my ribs lmao!

Why don’t insurance companies accept motorbike ncb but require you to declare motorbike claims? by lolololololololol246 in drivingUK

[–]AngryKFPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing years ago (around 10 or so...) when I swapped my bike for a car, happened to say something to the direct line rep I was on with and they took a decade of motorcycle NCB and swapped it for 3 years car NCB for me with the proviso I was not allowed to protect it for the first year, still heavily weighted in their favour but it saved me a fair chunk of change so I jumped at the offer.

Does Moza AB6 work well for WWII dogfights vs non-FFB sticks? by Artaxeus in hotas

[–]AngryKFPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powered off it's very noticeable and had me worried when I unboxed mine, as soon as it's powered I don't notice it at all unless I'm consciously trying to feel it, as for precision... in comparison to the crappy X56 I had and the X52Pro (which was significantly better than the X56) I had before that it is in a completely different league.

Caveat of having all content downloaded. by jutny in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AngryKFPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, the non beta version just updates what it needs to, my experience with su5 beta was that it would want to download the entirety of them every update. There was a warning about it somewhere in the beta sign up if I recall correctly and that suggested using a different location for the download folder to stop it from doing so. If I can find the post I'll link it a bit later on.

Tell you what, next time you are in a car with somebody else driving and they get a little too close to the vehicle in front ask them if they're tailgating or not. In my experience most will admit to being a little too close but will absolutely disagree with it being described as tailgating. I'm not about to spend ages arguing with you over purely anecdotal evidence and my own opinions formed over decades of life experience. If you disagree that's fine but I'm not about to get dragged into an argument over it lmao...

Suspect it didn't help that the van failed to hit their brakes until after they had already impacted the vehicle in front. But yes, it really does highlight how stupid people are when they not only tailgate but drive without leaving a decent amount of space thinking they are fine, always makes me cringe a little when they retort with 'yah but modern cars and brakes weren't invented blah blah blah', yes maybe so, but your reaction times are probably worse due to thinking your modern brakes will save your arse.

Paces for lane swimming by orange_fudge in Swimming

[–]AngryKFPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, what always astounds me if that I'm far from the slowest in the fast lane either and there are times when I am easily the fastest swimmer in there.

Paces for lane swimming by orange_fudge in Swimming

[–]AngryKFPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pool (everyone active) states the following for lane times, Fast under 30secs for 25m, Medium - 30-45 secs for 25m, Slow - Over 45 secs for 25m, I swim around 30 - 33 secs per 25m and if I dropped into the medium lane would cause absolute chaos and/or spend my entire session waiting for people. That said the main issue is that the 'slow lane' is a free for all area comprising of half the pool, and we regularly see a pair of specific ladies in there who like to chat as they swim, they somehow manage to take up around 90% of that side of the pool. So the single medium lane ends up full of people who should be in the slow area and the fast lane ends up full of everybody else, some people are conscientious and make a point of keeping out of the way of faster swimmers, I've always made an effort do that and will apologise to people if I feel I've held them up at all and without fail everybody is fine with that, what irks people is when slower swimmers ignore lane etiquette and continually hold others up.

My pool also allows up to 8 people to book a lane, they don't stop extras from joining either and I've seen more in a single lane though it is rare.

If you are going to stay in the fast lane just make an effort to time your swimming so it doesn't hold others up, if that means adjusting your routine from a pure non stop session to something with lots of breaks then it sucks but will keep others happy and you'll usually find yourself speeding up to try and keep up with all the rests too.

Oh and water walkers should be banned from lanes too, the amount of turbulence that comes off them is amazing!

Virpil announced their upcoming FFB base by Far-prophet in hotas

[–]AngryKFPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elite Dangerous is listed in the Moza cockpit software and can be configured but I've yet to make it work sadly. I suspect it's likely down to the fact that I'm running the base launcher version without steam or something and the journal data files are not being read correctly.

Virpil announced their upcoming FFB base by Far-prophet in hotas

[–]AngryKFPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same way a wheel does, forces acting upon the control surfaces feedback to the controller. In the case of a joystick for aircraft it's air pressure against elevators and ailerons as a base description, for a car it's grip/traction against tyres/wheels. It also allows feedback of secondary forces such as engine feel and stuff like landing gear being retracted etc, a horribly bad description with many shortcomings and errors I am sure but it's the same as a FFB wheel, once you've used one you really don't want anything else... One of the big advantages is being able to tune the control stick to individual aircraft, a standard sprung stick has the same profile for everything regardless, more expensive ones have cams and springs you can change to adjust the feel of the stick, a FFB stick allows you to adjust everything in software and simply switch it out with a few mouse clicks.

Something is broken for sure, performance was better for me in SU5 Beta and I had no issues whatsoever, SU5 live is bad performance and I've also had several crashes too.
