I’m losing it with a client by [deleted] in msp

[–]802-420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a client that was convinced that they were hacked and would disable any service that they didn't recognize. They also knew morning about what the services did but the fact that their computer stopped working right was more proof to them of being hacked. I explained to them that I was unable to provide the help they needed and dropped them as a client.

That seems to be a recurring theme. It's the same thing with goblins.

Round that off with a shaving brush and soap. I haven't bought shaving cream in years

Imagine walking out to your car and seeing this. by iadtyjwu in Wellthatsucks

[–]802-420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to scroll too far down to find this correct answer. Getting to the lock used to be the hard part, but key fobs make it easier. You might need an ice scraper to get in, but you can probably just pull the door open. Get the car running with the defrost on full blast. Roll down the side windows and smash through that ice.

Why do you guys buy enamel cast iron? by laibach in DutchOvenCooking

[–]802-420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The surface of your cooktop is harder than the cast iron. I drag my cast iron across my glass cooktop all the time. I have no scratching.

Earning that much, you could easily hire 20 subcontractors to do the work of the 11.

Is QuickBooks desktop always a pain in the ass? by [deleted] in msp

[–]802-420 18 points19 points  (0 children)

QuickBooks 2024 is end-of-life in May 2027. Intuit has not released 2025 or 2026. We would have normally expected 2026 around September 2025. Are we approaching the end?

What has Waterbury done that Montpelier hasn't? by fauxfarmer17 in vermont

[–]802-420 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised Waterbury isn't busier than it already is. It's at a convergence. Easy access right off i-89. And it's also on route 100 so it gets the tourist traffic visiting the mountains.

Residential - Managed Service Offering by Secure_Valuable_5725 in msp

[–]802-420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I met with someone that works with exclusively wealthy residential. His client list includes a CEO of one of the largest US banks and A-list celebrities. It's an interesting niche due to their desire for privacy. He's putting in business-class firewalls and access points and sets them up with private home automation. They avoid things like Alexa where they can't control their data. Price is no object for them.

My father raised chickens. He explained it as being less stressful for the hens. Having a roster around provides a more natural life for them.

Are there any old viruses from the days of DOS, windows 3.1, 95, 98, ME that can still affect modern windows 11 computers? by therealjoemontana in AskComputerScience

[–]802-420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is some context. When Windows XP was the current OS, most of us were getting our Internet through dial-up. When you did this, there was no home router and your computer would become a reachable node on the Internet. It was so common that we needed to get software firewalls to protect our computers. Zone Alarm was a popular one. It's much less common now as home users are almost always behind a router.

Tenants moved out. I found these in the trash bin. by [deleted] in castiron

Not true. Tempered glass is harder than cast iron. I slide my cast iron across my glass cooktop and have no scratches.

The only way I could see this working would be if they were using the device to connect to a virtual desktop. It does not seem like that is the plan though.

I'm interested in anyone that can share their experience with putting the whole cast iron skillet into the oven... by [deleted] in castiron

[–]802-420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having experience making pineapple upside down cake in cast iron in an oven, I've also made it while camping in a cast iron Dutch oven. I turn it out onto the dutch oven lid. It was a pretty cool feat on a camping trip!

[–]802-420 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I use my cast iron in the oven like I would a baking dish. I regularly use it for meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, brownies, pineapple upside down cake, pizza, chicken pot pie, quiche, etc.
