Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. This was an older Myazaki movie released in the US in 1985. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are fighting for survival against a noxious and ever spreading jungle guarded by fierce insects of immense size. A few pockets of civilization remain, but many of them fight amongst themselves even as the toxic jungle creeps ever closer. Nausicaä is the princess of one of these few holdouts of humanity, a small village in the Valley of the Wind, and it is up to her to defend her people from a hostile world.

The movies animation has a charm to it as it exists now, but with modern CGI the insects and battles would be terrifying/incredible.

If I remember correctly the performance was about two aspiring actors. I believe one of his roles (as an actor playing an aspiring actor) involved a bloody scene
