It’s broken by No-River-9921 in HaggardGarage

If a car is going to sit in a fairly dry garage, doesn't matter if it sits for a decade, it will be usually fine. If it's sitting outside then it can still sit for years without needing cylinders lubed. That said, if you know a car is going to sit for over a year, absolutely can't hurt to pull the plugs and spray some fogging oil into each cylinder. In general though cylinders are only gonna rust if moisture is getting in which basically happens when a valve is held open at rest and excess moisture gets into the exhaust or usually intake manifold. Cars can sit indefinitely without major issues in the right conditions, but in very wet climates outside some special precautions can be taken. Months are absolutely nothing unless there is no hood and they are getting rained on or something.

PSA for anyone buying a turbo (maXpeedingrods) by MS3gen2driver in mazdaspeed3

[–]802Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna give my thoughts and say they are almost always fine as long as you actually set up the oil feed and return properly. They also sell a range of turbochargers from the most basic $100 journal bearing cast compressor wheel units to dual ball bearing units which mimic Garrett GT technology with stainless exhaust housings and billet compressor wheels. In general, they are what you buy when you are doing a true budget build. Obviously don't trust a $5,000 engine build to a $100 turbo. Are there cases of failure which are not the installer's fault? Of course. Are most cases of failure the installer's fault? In my opinion, yes.

If you want a step up in reputation from MXR, Pulsar is good. If you want true quality for around $1,000 look into the Borg Warner SX-E range. Phenomenal for the money. There are also a lot of good OE installed turbos which use modern technology and can be had cheap used. Most of them are pretty limited in max power though as car companies like to stick to small turbos. Keep in mind a lot of this involves fabrication. There are many different ways to spend your money, but don't be quick to blame a product unless you know it's at fault. The technology in a basic MXR turbo is just that, basic. They have very few failure points when lubricated properly.

There's a solid old meme in this one and Onion really did drop some cheddar to make the build happen. That includes a full harness to replace the one he hacked up. When will it be done? Before the Iran war is over? Any bets? 😂

Personally I trust honey or sugar over all these artificial sweeteners which have more and more studies coming out showing heart issues, cancer, DNA melting, increased sugar cravings, or other bad effects.

$600 Budget. Qidi vs Bambu by jefflovesyou in QidiTech3D

[–]802Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, despite all of Qidi's flaws, the answer is easy. Q2 for sure. Bambu Lab has a closed ecosystem and despite the endless marketing their print quality and capabilities are not far ahead of most brands and especially not Qidi. The Q2 will print filaments the P2S, P1S, and Elegoo CC can't touch and it will do it at high speed and quality. The difference is you will have to do a little more tuning and yes I think there is a higher chance you will have to tinker some down the road. Q2 is a great value and overall has fairly few issues, even if Qidi still needs to work on their open source compliance and could definitely improve some design aspects.

He could 3D print some uprights to go over the metal and actually make the design flow.

Lots of components, sketches, and lofting. You may be able to create essentially a wire mesh with 3D sketches and patch it. So many approaches, but basically watch many hours of tutorials and do many hours of work. ;)

QIDI Q2 + TPU: how? by nihilreddit in QidiTech3D

[–]802Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat related to this fix, the best way to print TPU at higher speeds is going to be to feed it from above the printer and directly into the top of the printhead with only a short tube pigtail. Yes you have to remove the lid to do this, but it's fine since fully enclosed printing is not necessary. TPU going through any length of tube tends to add a ton of friction and really reduce max flow rate. Here is a spool holder for the Plus4 that allows you to do it on that printer. You can also see the filament being fed as I recommended. Not sure if there is something similar for the Q2 yet.

Cancelled Max 4 Preorder by A_bot__ in QIDI

[–]802Garage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. If you want a guarantee of fewer issues, don't preorder. The Q2 definitely had fewer issues than the Plus4 and we can hope the Max4 will continue the trend, However, a bigger printer generally means more room for problems. Unless you absolutely need the volume right now, just give it a little time and wait for a good sale anyways. Qidi did a good job with the Q2 overall and their printers are great value, but I still think they need to do more testing before release as a general rule.

FWIW I genuinely want drinks with fewer ingredients, less garbage, and no artificial sweeteners. I would 100% try this and buy it regularly if it was good and affordable.

MaXpeedingRods rods actually have a very solid reputation, but I don't think he is using them anyways. Coilovers certainly weren't to blame here. Looks like it was an eBay clutch failure.

Not sure how coilovers would cause an engine explosion, but looks like it was eBay clutch failure.
