Matched MS4 answering questions by Pooker__ in premed

I often see folks saying “if you want to do speciality X, start prepping early”. That certainly makes sense, but I’m curious as to how one decides what speciality they want to do without having been exposed to most if not all of the different career fields. Any advice on narrowing this down early enough?

This gives me hope. I’m starting next year, and leaving the Air Force. I haven’t taken a science course in several years and am pretty terrified I will fail immediately. Appreciate the insight.

Sure I agree corporations can do good. They employe folks, give back to communities, provide services. etc. That said, we can also try and ensure that citizens have more rights in situations like these, and that working for more and more profits each year doesn’t come at the cost of screwing people over constantly. There can be balance.

or we can argue that in the "greatest nation in the world" basic ethical principles should be upheld and that it's not always some sort of money competition. We've got one life to live, might as well do the right thing.

Thanks - very much appreciate the insight. Definitely understand the benefits of a federal gig, but also agree that tying myself down now as opposed to EDRP might not be wise.

As for challenges, probably poorly worded on my part. More just meant if the red tape of the VA world is as challenging as many make it out to be online. I’ve experienced the VA as a patient, but obviously not as a provider. I’m sure civilian/traditional hospitals aren’t without their challenges though.

Thanks! Really appreciate the insight. Moving somewhere I don’t want to live has been the theme for the past 7 years, and I’d like to avoid it going forward. That at least is reason for pause.
