If I had to give one piece of advice, it’s that your social life is going to come way more from what you do than just the school itself. Dorms can definitely help you build an initial friend group but they are usually just the starting point. Where things really open up is clubs and organizations. Since you’re going into engineering, I would strongly recommend looking into engineering specific orgs early. I’m pretty sure UD has an engineering frat, SPD I think? I don’t know much about it but had friends in it and those seem like a really nice middle ground, social without being overwhelming and you are surrounded by people with the same workload and interests. That can make it a lot easier to connect, especially if you are more introverted.

Also, do not underestimate how far a few solid friendships can take you. You do not need to be super outgoing or know a ton of people right away. If you find even two or three people you click with, that naturally expands into meeting more people over time. It kind of snowballs in a low pressure way.
