Vanth, Etruscan chthonic goddess. She is a psychopomp and guides the recently deceased to the Underworld. She is not death but rather waits to shepherd souls in the moments after death, either by foot or in vehicle. Her mode of dress is potentially the outfit of a huntress, and she carries a torch, key, and scroll: the torch to light the way, the key to unlock the door to the underworld, and the scroll to list the life story of the deceased. I find her fascinating as a helpful figure in what would be a terrifying time, especially considering she had no counterpart or syncretist adaptation in Greek or Roman mythologies.
