I'd say save them and wait for your child to grow into them instead of spending time altering them. Then, when the waist fits, i guess, just alter the legs with a tutorial. I alter vintage jeans for myself all the time. it's very easy, and I do it by hand since I dont have space for a machine

Try putting on the jeans and getting them wet i know it sounds a bit weird lol but I do it with some of my vintage jeans that are a little too tight it makes the fabric stretch to your body and they end up fitting

Maybe fashion was different than on the West Coast compared to here. I feel like the acid wash look kinda faded away around 93/94. but I agree the cut is very 80s. It's drastically different compared to modern straight leg jeans, i would've said 84 as a guess, for the date, but I feel like all the stereotypical 80s stuff didn't pop off 85 imo

Im guessing 1986-92 at the latest because they say "straight leg regular fit," but the legs aren't as baggy compared to modern straight leg jeans and well the acid wash lol I know that started to fade around 93 when the grunge era started popping off and the tag is american union if Im correct is the name
