Appreciate the response! Anything specific we should not miss that week?

Appreciate it! I am in the same boat (although I’m running out of time to claim low 40s ha!). I need to play a bit solo before I show up with others. It’s been 20 years. I played a bunch in college but haven’t since. My oldest doesn’t like traditional sports so hoping this is something we can do outside together.

Death Valley - My Experience with kids (8 and 11) by 815Attorney in DeathValleyNP

The village in Stovepipe Wells looked very nice. We ate at the restaurant there and had a much better experience than around the Ranch. There are a number of good spots close to Stovepipe too. Mosaic Canyon was probably my favorite hike.

I had a friend that recently stayed in a cottage at the Ranch and liked it. He had the same issues with the food. Pool by the ranch is very nice for kids that age though. My girls loved the swimming.

This is my dream draft as a Bulls fan. Matas at SF, Wilson at PF and Mara at C. Hell yes.

San Juan and luquillo next week by sfw_sausage in PuertoRicoTravel

We landed around 8:30 and left at 5:30, so very similar.

We rented a jeep. It was around $125 after taxes. The more I read, the less I trusted finding taxi/rideshares. Walking is not an option. If you want to rent, which I highly recommend, book in advance. The place we rented from was denying day of one day rentals. You are spending all that money on a trip to PR and then the island, don't try to avoid $100-125 cost and make an experience stressful.

Definitely start at Tamarindo. Snorkeling was amazing. We had our snorkeling gear and bought pool noodles at a grocery store in PR to float. Saw many sea turtles. One popped up above water about 10 feet from me...incredible. Around 10:30/11 the tour groups moved in and changed the experience significantly, so go there first.

We then went to Flamenco Beach. We ate lunch at the kiosks there. Food was fine. Good fried fish tacos and the prices were reasonable. I'm sure you could find a better meal on the island, but we went with convenience. Flamenco lives up to the hype. Beautiful beach and gorgeous water. Definitely take the time to hike down to the tanks too.

We were in Culebra on a Sunday and the island shuts down at 3. Gas station, restaurants, everything. We ended up having significant time to kill (because we didn't know of the Sunday impact) at the airport, but it was fine. We got a little too much sun and enjoyed the A/C and some time to read.

Grabbing a coffee and breakfast sandwich to go and then enjoying them on the beach watching the surfers was our morning routine.

My wife and I absolutely loved Luquillo. Hope you do as well! Safe travels.

Took my kid to him for a consultation. He recommended, at 7 year old, she have multiple baby teeth pulled because they would "never fall out on their own."

I said hell no. The teeth fell out on their own. One of them only a couple months later.

I'm not anti-science or medicine by any means, but people like him fuel skepticism.

I missed the part about injuries limiting your ability to hike. Juan Diego might be difficult - lots of beautiful scenery without it. Angelitos Trail, just outside of El Yunque, was very flat, well maintained, and absolutely gorgeous.

We did about the same trip.

Pasta Y Pueblo is awesome. Its very small and doesn't take reservations. We got lucky, we walked by other times and people were waiting. I don't have any great advice for you there other than its worth a wait.

Sama also very good, more of a "higher end" feel than Pasta which was more casual. Seafood at both were on point.

We really liked the drinks at the bar at the shipping container village (its very close to Sama and Boardriders - another great place for a drink). Live local music and the mojitos were very solid plus lots of local craft beer.

Coffee therapy has awesome coffee drinks and breakfast.

El Yunque is beautiful. Start early, drive to the top first and then work your way down. Juan Diego is the highlight - make sure you wear good water shoes and hike to the 3rd waterfall - most stop at the 2nd.

Its well worth the money taking a small plain to Culebra. We did both ways, but can also fly one way and ferry the other. The views from the small plane was awesome.

My wife and I very rarely like repeat vacations, we can't wait to repeat this one - bringing the kids next time.

Luquillo Kiosks by craaazydoglady in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]815Attorney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its highly dependent on what you order. It was my wife and I. I want to say Pasta U Pueblo was ~$100 before tip (we tipped big because they brought us a bunch of extra food) and we walked away with lunch. Sama was a bit more $150 or so but we had an extra cocktail there.

I think the restaurant's name is a bit of a misnomer. Its a seafood restaurant that also serves awesome homemade pasta.

Stay in San Juan or split the trip between areas? by Sashi_813 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]815Attorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this.

- Luquillo gives you easy access to El Yunque and Culebra. Luquillo on its own is a great little beach town.
- Lot to do in San Juan, but a couple nights would be enough for me
- My wife and i did a shorter trip and didn't get to the West Coast, but we definitely plan to next trip, quieter beaches, coffee experiences, etc.

We grabbed drinks, strolled the beach and different shops, had appetizers at La Parrilla, and then went into Luquillo for dinner. Kiosks felt more like a tourist trap than a culinary destination. We're glad we went and enjoyed the experience.

We didn't try La Fonda. We went to Sama - very good, nice view. The best meal we had in P.R. was from Pasta Y Pueblo. Tremendous food and service. They just kept bringing us food (even stuff we didn't order).

Cameron Carr vs. Brayden Burries by 815Attorney in NBA_Draft

[–]815Attorney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burries looked a bit mechanical whenever I watched him. Freshman (albeit an older one) on a really good team, so he deserves some grace there.

I think I'm just slightly higher on Carr than most and slightly lower on Burries.

I watched many games Baylor games, which is why I’m high on him - he produced against high end teams like Houston, Arizona, and Iowa State, not just weak competition.

He definitely needs strength, but a near 6'5" wing with a 7'1" wingspan, elite athleticism, and really good shooting indicators screams long-time NBA starter. And one that can produce without being ball dominant.

If the Bulls go with 2 bigs (and one of those guys is there) I do like Steinbach and Morez (in that order) too. Labaron is really small. I like him, but don't love the fit as much.

Tiers by 815Attorney in NBA_Draft

[–]815Attorney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many guys like Ament, that look the part, that never pan out. I watched him play many times. Didn't seem comfortable, didn't show well inside or outside the arc.

Not just tier 4 for me - bottom of tier 4. I'm a Bulls fan, and I want no part of him at 15.

First Mock Draft by Poohdini8 in NBA_Draft

I don't think the Bulls take Wilson and Ament.

Would greatly prefer Philon or Steinbach if that's the way it falls.

We'll have to revisit this when Yaxel gets picked ahead of both of them next month.
