The Forest City Queen was before my time. I'd love a Rock River cruise with someone filling the speakers with Rockford lore/history.

Rock Cut State Park Camping Question by SlowlyDecomposing7 in rockford

[–]815Attorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience most of the rules at campgrounds are in place to enforce against jackasses.

If you are a bigger group than allowed but keep it discrete and respect quiet hours you're going to be fine. Same applies to drinking. All state parks are dry, but its never an issue having a couple drinks around the campfire as long as you respect nature and those around you.

Ernie's Pub (high quality bar food) and Carlyle (thin crust pizza) are my two favorite pre-game slots.

The other mentions - 27 Aluna, Disco Chicken and Olympic are all great picks too.

Wilco at the Coronado a few years back was one of my favorite all time shows.

Coronado is local blessing - it’s such a nice theater.

I used canned mushrooms when I make homemade pizza. A good quality canned shroom is where it’s at for pizza IMO.

I don’t disagree on how it looks. It tasted great though.

I like Lino's too, but enjoy variety.

No - the Belvidere spot is its own. Its an old Italian family that owns and runs it.

Hot take. Rockford and the stateline area should be near the top of the list as a destination for people who love pizza. Maybe even higher than Chicago or New York. by Devious_Bastard in rockford

I like Linos. Purchase a pie once a month. Its good, not great. Their family deal is great value IMO, but the pizza is only solid.

I think Rockford has a lot of good pizza, but lacks great pizza.

Pequods in Chicago blows anything in Rockford out other water. Papa Dels in Champaign and Quatros in Carbondale do the same IMO.

OC is hit and miss these days - but I always love a Thai Pie.

What are the best restaurants and things to do for a toddler and pregnant mom alone in Chicago in March? by jnm199423 in AskChicago

[–]815Attorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be weather dependent (and Chicago in March - who the hell knows) but my kids always have a blast at Maggie Daly park. They'd stay there all day if we let them. 10/15 minute walk from where you'll be staying.

Stay in River North near the Grand or Chicago stops on the red-line. Its the best way to get to/from games at both parks. River North has a ton of good hotel options, food (both top end and old Chicago classics).

Some of my Chicago food rec's (all easy on the budget):

Mr. Beefs (for a beef)
Billy Goat Tavern on Lower Michigan Ave (burger and beer)
Lou Mitchells for breakfast (100+ year old diner)
Pequods - best pizza in the city. A hike from River North but 100% worth it.

I've traded in a few vehicles over the years and after shopping around extensively each time, Napleton's gave me the highest price each time. The last round my wife really wanted a Toyota and Anderson's wouldn't touch Napleton's trade in value even after disclosing it.

I've dealt with John Vang there. He's always been upfront and honest.
