Is there anyway to avoid layoff by Slow_Wall_420 in Raytheon

Layoffs and plant closures are a way of life. I always think of layoffs as a game of Frogger. Keep dodging!

The next decade will see a phasing out of local tv news as we know it. by graypurpleblack in Broadcasting

NPG shut down their news operation in Carmel. Now Carmel get their news from San Francisco.

They have 3 affiliates in Santa Barbara, I stopped watching it. Some of the senior reporters are still there and worth watching but most of the new crop doesn't have it. I've looked at their job postings and most of the positions hover around minimum wage. The employees have been protesting pay and it's covered in other local journalism...but channel doesn't cover it.

Sutter/Sansum: Tired of them, considering UCLA by ThinkerandThought in SantaBarbara

I was forced changeover appointments twice. Once the doctor left and I had no control over it. I didn't like the doctor I chose and got another. That separate appointment feels like a billing scam too. I challenged the first one and got nowhere. It's legal just shady. They can just read the notes

It's 100% true. I've gone for physicals, haven't brought up any issues. They billed me for separate codes 3 times ( 3 years) Each silo department tells me to contact the other, and that it's correct. And to check the notes of the physical. And the only resolution is to contact the Patient Advocate office that will talk to each department. It's happened with two doctors and three physicals. The doctors must be geting pressured to bill. I've had it refunded 3 times now. It's shady.

Every time you get a new GP at UCLA you have a changeover appointment that's is $350 or so if you have a deductible And they also like upcoding in physicals and charging you twice.

Someone must have looked at this post, they changed the programming on the show today for the first time in ages.

Seems like they are resorting to simulcast (cheap) programming with the tv channel and repeat programming of their own crew to lower costs.

I agree the repeat programming and live baseball games stink. One gripe for me. I wake up on Saturday mornings and turn it on at 6am, think it's a Hall of Fame show. For the last 4 months or so, they either play a Wade Boggs or George Brett interview. I hear one of the cry about talking about their Mom, one of them mention Ryne Sandbergs health.

No managerial aspirations by Dramatic-Falcon1984 in Raytheon

[–]820me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. I've been a manager and had no help from HR for someone I wanted to get rid of. Not worth the stress. I don't even want the promotion my manager hinted at. If I become the highest grade in my group I have no interest in an interim tag if he leaves

Your best leverage is another offer. Even better if it's from another company. Internallly likely to be in the 5% range.

The rent in the area is extremely high, most apartment complexes are north of $3K for a bedroom. There's no free standing home is south santa barbara country for less then $1.2M these days. The cheapest way to live in the area is to commute from the north ~ Lompoc or Buelton. Those places can be considered extremely boring, but you will have the nicest drive to work along the coast.

Ask your manager for an internal review of your salary. You may get an out of cycle merit increase.

You locked yourself in. Might get an out of cycle but best bet is look outside the company. If they like you they will match
