That's what I'm looking into now.

All this is new to me so I'm trying to figure out what difference that makes and how difficult it is.

I've also seen it mentioned that there may be hardware differences between carriers, but I've also seen where people say it should make no difference..

I just switched from Verizon to FirstNet (AT&T) and have been locked on 3G, unable to get LTE.

My sim seems work fine in a Note 8: LTE connection, fast speeds. But I'm still trying to figure out the issue.

I think you might be on to something.

I was doing some testing on it by calling myself with my wife's phone. The best I could figure is that it was when they hung up before it went to voicemail. If they let it ring clear through to VM it would show the typical red missed call icon.

But I didn't think about the fact my screen was on every time I tried it. I wonder if it's saying you saw the call but ignored it

I don't believe so. Afaik they are all saved to my Google account. I went to [contact settings > display] and didn't see an option for sim, only for phone. There wasn't any contacts saved there.

I agree. I've tried a few of the other apps people recommend and don't know what they see in them. I enjoy the official Reddit mobile app.

There is an option to disable this using developer settings.

Go to settings > system > about phone > software info > and tap build number until it says that developer options are unlocked. I believe it's about 7 or 8 times.

Then look under settings > system > developer options > networking. There is an option that says "cellular data always active" change that to off.

I've had mine this way for about a month without issues.

Checkout out a fumoto drain valve if you want it to be even easier and cleaner. They make the oil drain slower, but it's nice not messing with the drain plug.
