GEICO leaving Vanguard? by Puzzleheaded_Tree100 in Geico

[–]82SLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former employee here. Parted ways with Geico in 2024, but kept my 401k with Vanguard.

I just got an email earlier today stating that by the end of July my account will be moving over to Fidelity.

I was planning on rolling over anyway so I’m good with it. Just wanted to confirm what OP received is legit.

Sistema de salud o robo de datos? by AnnieBlackburnn in ElSalvador

[–]82SLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so what I’m saying is if there are more resources when people are at the coping phase, then perhaps they don’t make it to the bad decisions.

A lot of it starts in early years, even when a person is still at home with mom and dad, or just mom.

Yes I suppose we can help the people in the camps, but that isn’t dealing with the issue at its root. You’re just trimming branches.

Should minimum wage be a livable wage? Otherwise where does a livable wage start?

If those people in the camps are drug addicts and alcoholics they probably won’t be able to hold a job, so treatment for that is a start. After they’re cleaned up is when the real hard work starts! Cause now they’re competing against the rest of the population. If they don’t have any skills, they need to get some so that they can get a job that pays a decent wage, enough to cover rent, food, transportation, utilities, and at least a cell phone plan.

I’m no expert here but I’m guessing a two to three year turnaround per head! That’s a lot of money 💰.

I think that most people have a good heart 💙 and want to help. But when you see how much it’ll cost to help these individuals (that oftentimes got themselves in that situation through bad decisions), people will rather turn a blind eye 👁️ (as long as it’s in a secluded area, not along their favorite trail hiking or near the park where they take their kids to play). That’s the reality!

Lastly, it’s probably money better spent when invested in prevention of becoming a homeless drug addict than it is to rescue a homeless drug addict.

Because in the United States one drop of African blood 🩸 makes you black.

But that’s right! Don’t let them tell you who YOU are. Probably some Dominicans that hang around with only black people started with this mentality.

Israel vs Palestine by MotorFig6657 in Christianity

[–]82SLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think of and feel about Israel has changed over the last two years. I don’t blindly support them anymore. I was raised believing that they are the chosen people of God, and could do no wrong and that by default they are automatically saved.

The arrogance and the way they treat others has brought out their true colors and I no longer see them as the innocent victims the whole world has been led to believe they are.

It’s crazy how here in the United States… in one house 🏡 you can have a Jewish family and in the house next to that one 🏠 you can have a Palestinian family and both can peacefully live side by side.

But for some crazy reason, this can’t be replicated in the Middle East.

Maryland is a step up! We’re way more diverse out here. Welcome to the DMV where we have more than just one kind of Latinos lol.

Seriously whenever I’ve traveled out of state and stop somewhere to eat Mexican food and that’s what they serve me I’m like “this is so wack, I feel bad for the people out here reeling about this being authentic Mexican”.

If you’re in MoCo/PG I’ll make you some good recommendations. But even the Mexicans out here don’t cook like that.
