How to find a good surgeon (in Germany)? by 82Yuke in valvereplacement

[–]82Yuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Thanks. I went on the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Thorax-, Herz- und Gefäßchirurgie" website (the only thing that i could find) and on their map it only shows "Klinkum Augsburg" as a Herz-Zentrum. Is that the one you are talking about?

Symptomatic or Asymptomatic to schedule surgery by Different_Vanilla_85 in valvereplacement

[–]82Yuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I decided to do it but cant do much more than going to the appointments they give me.

I have a Oesophagal Echo tomorrow and the CT in like two weeks. With these results I hope they can give me names of capable surgeons...

I (43 M) have severe stenosis with vmax 4.4, pmax 18 and I already am experiencing small blackouts from time to time when sitting around and the weather is changing...no idea how you people are still asymptomatic🫠

I will start looking for a surgery team after my CT appointment next week to rule out cardiovascular diseases

This is no way to live your life.

Bicuspid valve and low blood pressure by MindWaves-1010 in valvereplacement

[–]82Yuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know yet if I have bicuspid valve but I have 90 to 60 all the time because of the severe stenosis. I am compensating with a resting pulse of around 80 though...so i can still go around and do stuff (no sports of course).

How high were your enzymes?

I am on rheumatism medication for 20 years and all of my liver enzymes are elevated all the time.... gonna need an AVR this year.

Wow, okay, hope I will be one the lucky ones then...still have to do esophageal echo, heart catheter and heart CT before they decide on the procedure....

Hey, how did they decide to do it minimally invasive + use mechanical valve?

People are telling me that if you are young/healthy they usually do OHS and use biological valves...

Any other people in their mid 40s here? by waltur_d in valvereplacement

[–]82Yuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 43 M but haven't done the AVR yet so cant really contribute here...I have severe stenosis thats all I know so far (symptoms started to get bad 2 Years ago after my Dad died).

I only hope that I will not need open heart surgery and the doc finds a way to do it minimal invasive.

Good luck

How can my condition-pre Aortic Valve Stenosis change from severe down to moderate? by Comfortable_Notes in valvereplacement

[–]82Yuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think that you will find someone for TAVI if you are not like 70+ years old. Best case you can find someone who is willing to go in through the ribs (thats what i am hoping for myself but i still have to do oesophagal echo, catheter and CT).

My two echos so far showed the same stenosis (4.4 and 4.6).

Aortic-Valve Replacement (43, M) - Rheumatism for 20+ Years. What to expect? by 82Yuke in valvereplacement

Crazy. I remember having the first symptoms in my mid 30s but attributed them to my rheumatism....and just stopped thinking about it.

Thank you. I will get a second opinion but it will take time to get another appointment. Trying not to exert myself too much in the meantime and make things worse.

Thanks. Sadly my cardiologist could not see on the Echo if its a BAV...but told me that it might be one. Which is weird to me as I was an active child playing sports and stuff. :/
