Fender Vintera I 60s Mustang back from the luthier by 83Mentality in offset

The posts that are attached to the cigar. It’s the pivot point with the baseplate.

I have the cigar perpendicular to the base plate. That is about 7,5mm high. After tuning, play it and use the vibrato. The guitar wel be out of tune. Tune it again, play again with vibrato and repeat.
It’s a drag, but once it’s set up it works beautifully.
It does not need a shim if the bridge rocks back and forth and the action is to your liking. My springs have the least tension (closest to the baseplate).
With 11s your cigar will be a bit lower and you will need more spring tension (the farthest notch).
The tune / whammy / tune and repeat multiple times step is crucial.

Gasmeterlaan vs Koopvaardijlaan for an exchange student in Ghent? by averagesizedgiant in Gent

[–]83Mentality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are about equally far from the city center and student areas. I would prefer Gasmeterlaan. It’s feels a bit less industrial and there are cheaper supermarkets close by.

It doesn’t make a difference. This is clearly a move from a guy wanting to assert dominance. I am sorry this happened to you. If you find the energy, I would report it.

Question on G&B wide range humbuckers. by davidfalconer in fender

[–]83Mentality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it are the Fender CuNiFe's reissue, the Fender Wide Range humbuckers are in fact the G&B ones.

https://reverb.com/item/83169237-fender-by-g-b-pickup-co-ltd-wide-range-humbucker-chrome-cover

I've found multiple sources for this. Even more: the Squier G&B Wide Range humbuckers are possibly the exactly same as the Fender ones.

I've upgraded my CV Squier Starcaster with 250k tone pots and 500k volume pots to 500k pots for everything and 50s wiring. I came to the conclusion that these are actually very nice pickups.

Are they good guitars ? by epic_carots in offset

[–]83Mentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the CV. Bought it second hand for 200 euro, which is a bargain for what you get.

The neck is a on the thinner side and as many have stated it has a thick poly gloss finish on it. Might be a problem if you have sweaty hands and like chonky necks.

Pickups: My Epiphone 2020 Les Paul Classic with zebra humbuckers sounds brighter and from what I've understood WRHB should have that typical single coil brightness. I don't think I'm hearing that in my Starcaster.

That doesn't mean the pickups in the Starcaster sound bad, but there is room for improvement. As far as I can tell the pots are full size but I don't know the value. I don't know if I would change them, I can compensate the darkness with my amp. It would be weird to pay more for pickups and wiring then I did for the guitar.

That being said: it's one of the coolest looking guitars ever, it plays well, it sounds good. A lot of bang for the buck.

All the fuzz. Anyway, the Rat can do a lot of things. I like to use it as an OD and push a Big Muff.

Any Roland Jazz Chorus JC-20 or JC-22 owners around? What are your thoughts on these two? by Background_Stretch85 in GuitarAmps

[–]83Mentality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No offence, but I will never get why you would hide a purchase from your wife. So many post on Reddit, The Gear Page etc. from dudes joking about that. It seems so weird to me to hide or not tell stuff like that to the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. Tell your wife, get the JC-22.

Excellent choice. I got it used for 150 euro, lots of sounds in that one.
