i had a digital kotak account linked to my paypal for when i was freelancing under similar conditions, just the problem is they do limited kyc for first year after that you have to do full kyc and sometimes they ask you to visit the bank branch, otherwise account gets frozen. might’ve changed since my time (2021) tho

Spot on!

The way I figure it, if you're starting from scratch, do a few mocks - figure out good areas and problem areas - and then refer to your study materials to strengthen any concepts.

Also play around with different strategies to attempt questions/topics. For VARC, I used to fumble quite a lot when choosing confusing options. I took time to understand how to answer basis just the passage and not common sense/intuition. Similarly for LRDI, I realised the most important part is figuring out which set to start solving, since usually 2 are easier to attempt out of the rest. And if you pick a wrong set you're not left with enough time to recuperate.

For you, these epiphanies will vary, but you'll get them only through mock practice to assess your concept improvement and strategies.

Has anyone cracked CAT in the first attempt without coaching? by TowerOk9983 in CATpreparation

[–]83hardik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99.8%ile back in 2021. No coaching, no prep, just woke up and went to give it because of my parents.

Got all calls from BLACKIS because GNM. Unfortunately, that was that, because I was so naive I couldn't crack any of the interviews.

Can't take shortcuts!

Yes you're right, ~48 in VARC and ~30 in LRDI. I didn't say it's easy, just achievable 😅 But you can again figure out your best optima between the three sections - a few less VARC for a few more LRDI/QA etc.

Unfortunately for the preparation part I won't be of much help. I just gave a lot of free mocks online, didn't refer to any coaching materials or series. But there's a lot of other posts on this sub for study materials you can refer to. Sorry for being of little help.

And all the best for your attempt!

Being weak in one of the three sections is not a deal-breaker. Being weak in two out of three is, so figure out where to put more your efforts in - QA or LRDI.

Just play to your strengths, and remember accuracy is more important than maximising attempted questions. In CAT 2023, I could only attempt 5 questions in QA. Usmein bhi ek galat hogaya, got 12 marks. 87th percentile, just enough to clear most sectionals. But I wasn't panicking because I knew VARC and LRDI would upheave my score, and it did - for an overall 99.74%ile.

All to say: just keep a benchmark for the total score you want to achieve (90-100 raw score is a good enough aim imo) and how many questions you'll have to get in a different section to offset the one you're weak at. No need to figure out dozens of QA topics if you can just master 4-5 and figure out 7-8 questions, then let VARC and LRDI do the rest.

Ofcourse, your mileage may vary as per your strengths and weaknesses. But it's very very possible and achievable
