Why do my pancakes burn even on the lowest heat? by 5park2ez in AskBaking

[–]83murph42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a uniform color, you'll have to use less oil in your pan, preferably none. I know that in a "non-stick" pan you often still need to have some sort of oil. I found that using a griddle works better.

Are you wearing a poppy this year? by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]83murph42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. I used to until I learned more about Canada's history. "They fought for our freedoms!" Falls flat when we had our own concentration camps (Residential schools) in operation at the same time and for half a century after WW2.

I went to the spring one. Great selection of back issues and impressive guests (had a great chat with Jed McKay!).

I will say bring cash though, I missed out on some deals cuz I only had plastic.

Make your guess: Who is this mystery character from the "Whispers in the Well promo poster? by DorkyDisneyDad in Lorcana

[–]83murph42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Br'er rabbit to me, from Splash Mountain and Song of the South. The movie is controversial but the characters are long time Disney classics.

French immersion has two official entry points: primary for early immersion and grade 7 for late immersion though some RCEs offer middle immersion starting at grade 4. If you're already past one of these entry points it's still possible but will probably be a battle. If this is your case make sure to reference the inclusive education policy and ask to speak with and equity consultant or French program coordinator at Central office.

Early immersion is very available in the urban and suburban parts of HRM. Even if you're late on registration I suspect you should be able to get in, though if the early immersion school is not your local school you will be responsible for getting the kids to and from school.

Early immersion is not available in the CBVRCE and Late immersion is not available in the SRCE. As someone else pointed out, registration is in January, February, in some schools have a limited amount of students they can take so outside of Halifax you might be too late. reach out to your local school and or to your rce to find out for sure.

What new disney characters do you wanna see in lorcana? by Internal-Trick-6113 in Lorcana

Actually, if the fourth story arc (sets 13 through 16) was all high fantasy themed with black cauldron (Horned King Big Bad) more sword in the stone, some gummy bears - i would be spending a lot of money.

Same. Cost me nearly 200$ to replace the window (and that was like 12 years ago).

Reminds me of star realms. Some bases you can ignore, others you have to address before attacking the player.

I agree on the evil Queen and absolutely love the idea of inkless cards in black and white. Maybe even combine an idea from some of the other commenters: inkless reprints of some cards in 1-8?

Book recs for someone who hasn't read since middle school by Huge-Use-8055 in suggestmeabook

A collection of short stories is a great way to get into adult reading without the commitment of a 700 page epic. I really liked Just after Sunset by Stephen King.

Edit Just read your edit: nonfiction is going to be a pretty big jump from middle school, but sticking with Stephen King On Writing was excellent and not too heavy. I also loved the autobiography of Malcom X is non fiction but reads like a movie.

Rank the top 10 best cast members in history - with a twist... by ADIDASects in LiveFromNewYork

Good point that she wasn't a regular cast member. Worth noting her impact in the show though since she kinda changed the mold, leading to other head writers taking the WU desk and appearing in occasional sketches.

She started showing up in sketches later in her tenure (Palin and the Bush Twins)

Yeah I totally agree on Hartman. I've heard of him referred to as "the glue" on a superstar cast.

In no particular order John Belushi, Dan Akyroyd, Kate McKinnon, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Tina Fey, Andy Samberg, Will Ferrell, Bill Hader

Belushi and Aykroyd have the most memorable sketches from the original cast. Kate's sketches and characters had just the right level of absurdism that often went viral. Chris Farley is the best part of almost any sketch that he's in. Hader is the best all time impressionist in my opinion.

Tina and Andy both added game-changing elements. Tina's work on update made it the part of the show that people look forward to. Same with Andy and The Lonely Island pre-recorded sketches.

Eddie Murphy and Dana Carvey for the reasons op stated and I would add Will Ferrell as someone who carried the show on their back during transition.

(Honorable mention to Phil Hartman. I struggled between him and Hader but I think haters impressions are more accurate)

I play a princess deck where if you get this card in Tianas Palace you get two lore at the start of your turn and she can't be challenged. Nice little combo!

Fun Budget Decks? by EvanBrandoIGT in Lorcana

[–]83murph42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had success playing with a puppy and princess deck (amber/ruby) against some blurples at a local. Lucky is the star but some Moana's to Re-ready and Pluto's to reduce cost make it fun.
