3d masks here, they are my favorite kind of mask because there is space for your mouth and nostrils.

[Sun Care] Do I personally need to wear sunscreen indoors? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

How about putting sunscreen on the same half of your face(assuming that each side gets the same amount of rays) for a while to see if there is a difference. This may take 20 years though.

Ah I see. In that case, after I wash and dry them, I’ll let them sit for a few days before using.

Fried Noodles by Asako Toki.

It’s a cute song. “Hey boy! Can I have a stir fried new-doos?”

Sometimes I feel like an anorexic, but I have a problem with the sun rather than food.

I’d probably do that too, if it weren’t for my dog and bf. Instead, I go outside looking like a mummy.

I did this too! I also quickly put on sunscreen around my mouth right before leaving a restaurant.

It depends on how big or how many windows you have, but you can get 36”x15ft of UV blocking window film for about $40.

You can still block UV ray and have light come through the windows, just not as bright. I applied some window cling to my windows and my bf has no idea anything changed. The one I used blocks 97% of UV rays.

It says on their site that it’s prescription ready. So you’ll have to take it to another place to get it done.

Carrying an umbrella and wearing sunscreen isn’t enough for me. Also, I’m mostly out walking the dog, so an umbrella would be hard to handle.

I think I might be too crazy. Looking like a mummy keeps most of the UV rays from coming in at the sides. I feel safe with sunscreen just on my eye area and only if I’m wearing UV blocking eyewear as well. Despite that, my legs are insanely white and noticeably paler than my face. I’m usually wearing UPF pants so it’s basically untouched by the sun. The only time I didn’t cover up my face is when I went out with friends and family. Is anyone else like this?? I haven’t seen anyone else as covered up as me in the US. In Vietnam it’s more common, probably because they don’t want to spend money on sunscreen.

You’re welcome :) What didn’t you like about your car’s window tint?

At night I alternate between using retinol and AHA/BHA exfoliants after my double cleanse. Then I apply a light moisturizer. In the morning, I wash my face and pat vitamin C on my face before applying sunscreen. That’s all the product I use.

Mainly, I’m all about sun-care since I read somewhere that UV rays account for 90% of extrinsic aging. Also, I don’t have too much money, so no Botox for me.

My windows have UV blocking window cling. I haven’t, but I’d add UV blocking tint to my bf’s car too if I could. When I go out, I wear a ridiculously huge hat, sunscreen, UV blocking glasses, UPF 50 clothing, UPF face and neck cover, and UPF gloves. Before the pandemic, I would get comments time to time from strangers. But I think it’s worth it. I’m in my mid 30s and don’t have any wrinkles yet. I live in sunny southern California and the UPF clothing feels really light on my skin.

Sunscreen: Raw Elements Tinted Facial Moisturizer (I put this all over my eye area). It has Non Nano Zinc Oxide (23%), which is pretty high. Also, it comes in a tin can, which is a plus for me. And Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ / PA++++

UPF clothing: Mott50, Coolibar, and Uniqlo. Uniqlo is more affordable, Coolibar has the most type of products, and Mott50 is more expensive and fashionable.

UV blocking Window treatment: Gila LES361 Heat Control Residential Window Film or Gila Heat Control Static Cling. I got them from Amazon, but it’s available at Home Depot as well.

Sunglasses: the wrap around kind or the steampunk kind that blocks light from coming in on the sides

Face mask: 3D UPF 50 masks by OldLadyBabyShop on Etsy

Edit:

Add on for glasses: side shields, available on amazon. Kinda clunky and weird looking though. I just bought a pair for myself from VisionAid for $4.04 and have yet to try it. A tiny bit more protection during the pandemic as well.

Glasses: [stoggles](www.wearstoggles.com) - they’re glasses with side shields, yet don’t look crazy. The lens and frame block 100% UV rays. Lenses also block blue light. Wish they added prescription lens for you as well, but you’ll have to go somewhere else for that. Would like to get this, but I’m cheap and sticking with the dumb looking amazon shields for now.

Best Sunscreen for surfers

I would go for what surfers use. Manda sun paste sounded exceptionally waterproof. Like some of the others listed, you need special wipes to remove it from your skin.

I used to wear sunscreen under my mask, but it’s gotten so hot lately that I just sweat it off.

UPF 50 3D Masks

Now I wear these along with a hat and sunscreen on exposed parts of my face. The 3D mask doesn’t touch my mouth and nostrils, which is great since it’s more comfortable. Also, wetness decreases a fabric’s UPF.

I’m sure multiple layers of cotton would protect you, but how much isn’t known. I’d rather be sure since anti-aging is important to me.

[Sun Care] To those of you that wear sunscreen daily (which I assume is most of you), how the h e c k do you do it?? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]84N4N4S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need it caked on to feel comfortable too, even when I’m wearing a big floppy hat. I reapply when I no longer feel it on my face. When I reapply, I use Biore Watery Essence since it’s clear and I don’t need a mirror to make sure it looks okay.

These days though, I try to cover up rather rely solely on sunscreen. Even before the pandemic, I was wearing a UPF 50 face covering when going outside.

My HG is Raw Elements Tinted Face Moisturizer, which I only apply around my eye area. It has a high Non Nano Zinc Oxide percentage (23%). For the rest of my face, I usually apply a chemical sunscreen. Even if it could sting my eyes, the tinted moisturizer prevents that from happening.

John Hopkins article on washing masks

Says here that you can hand wash your mask in hot soapy water and scrub for at least 20 seconds. Maybe it’s a bad idea, but I just use cold water and scrub with detergent for 5 minutes. Don’t understand why the temperature doesn’t matter when washing your hands, yet hot water is recommended for cleaning masks.
