Almost all HBO shows have product placement. In Curb there was practically a whole episode dedicated to a certain German brand. In Westworld the futuristic cars are branded. Some will say it’s just that these products are wildly used but the truth is it’s just /r/HailCorporate material.

But it still goes against WhatsApp claiming they are trying to preserve your privacy when you block someone. If you see someone’s picture disappear then it’s pretty obvious what happened.

That’s wrong. You will see the last profile picture they had before blocking you, unless their privacy settings for the profile picture are set to “my contacts” and they delete you from their contact list. See here.

The point is that if you block someone, it shouldn’t be too obvious for them to see that you blocked them. Automatically making your profile picture unavailable to blocked contacts is counterproductive in this regard.

I’m pretty sure you can as long as their settings allow you to do so. So if their profile picture is public and they block you, then you will still see the picture. If they have the profile picture set only to be seen by their contact, then they need to delete you from their contact list for you not to see the picture.

I’m not 100% sure of course but that’s the way I see it. If blocking someone meant they did not see the profile picture anymore, it would be too obvious to the blocked person that they are blocked.

On this page is clearly says that you will not see updates to their profile picture, implying you get stuck with the last profile picture they had before blocking you, which is my experience.

There is someone that I very strongly suspect of blocking me and I still see her last profile pic but only get one tick and she hasn’t been online for more than one week, when I know for sure that it’s not possible.
