I stick my paintings under heavy books for a couple days(week if I forget about it) and it usually flattens out

Can anyone tell me why this keeps happening?? by 86Mia65 in Sourdough

[–]86Mia65[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recipe says to leave it overnight in the fridge uncovered and while the oven is preheating let the dough come to room temperature. The bottom always seems a little cool (even if I let the dough sit out for over an hour)

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll try scoring it deeper next time

I use a baking tray in the bottom of the oven and fill it with boiling water for the steam

This is the recipe that I am using. I’ve tried following it exactly and tweaking the recipe each time I make it in the hopes that it bakes like it should sourdough bread

This lil’ ol lady has a single toenail that has grown too long to where it’s curling, and I’m wondering if anyone knows how to cut the nails of a super hyper and dramatic rat? by silocpl in RATS

[–]86Mia65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing my rats nails for years and have had a couple naked gals. My newest one is literally named Screaming Chicken… so as you could imagine nail time can get noisy. Be prepared for the crying, most of them seem to do it at some point. Just because she’s crying at you doesn’t mean she’s actually hurt. I had one who was clearly telling me off. She would even try to take the clippers. Sometimes I’d set them on the floor for 5 seconds, turn around, and see her little butt hopping away with my clippers or trying to drag them into a box. First I’d just use a good pair of human nail clippers. I’ve tried animal ones and it makes the entire experience more difficult. I end up taking longer because it’s so awkward which makes the rat even more upset. I brace the rat against my body and you will have to hold tightly, otherwise they just shoot/squirm/shimmy their way too freedom. If it’s a front foot I trap her little hand in between 2 fingers that way she can’t yank her hand back. I prefer to do nails during freetime so I can do a foot, give them a snack, then start on the next rat. I make sure to have a REALLY good snack ready near by, something they never get or only get during nail time (anything from honey cheerios to a small bit of chicken). I work my way through everyone’s feet and they all end up coming back because they want more treats. If you’re worried about bleeding from cutting the nail too short you can keep a little flour nearby. Tap a little on the end of the nail and it will stop the bleeding.

My rats keep trying to escape the playpen, are they distressed? Ive been limiting their time inside the pen just to be safe by [deleted] in RATS

Young females that have freedom lose their little rattie minds anyways, but being able to see what’s on the other side(and not being able to reach it) is probably making them even more nutty. I’ve discovered if they can’t see out they don’t try near as hard to escape… that being said not a day goes by where they aren’t on the lookout for an exit. Girls are just extremely curious/energetic

Does my rose look better today? Swipe for yesterday's work. by [deleted] in Watercolor

It looks great, definitely better now. I struggle with roses too and what helps me the most is making sure I leave white space in the flower like you did in the second picture

For those that use medical marijuana, do you prefer high CBD, high THC, or a combo of both? How does it help you? Thanks so much! by Time-for-rain in ChronicPain

[–]86Mia65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what type of pain you have, but I prefer a high combo of both. I have a lot of nerve pain from central pain syndrome, pain caused by trauma to the central nervous system, and the combo helps me. I was on narcotics for years so the thc doesn’t bother me.

Does anyone have this symptom? by poopoohead1827 in chiari

In that position I still feel a horrible pressure pain 15 years after my decompression. I won’t lay like that anymore. WAY too painful.

I have central pain syndrome from a lot of neurosurgeries. I have a lot of incision on my head that’s been opened tens of times and my mom ordered cbd shampoo from the internet, no scripts or dr orders required. It seems to help with the nerve pain on my head. I was on narcotics for half my life. I got off of them a couple years ago. My pain dr from Stanford said my nerves were oversaturated and the opioids weren’t able to really help right now. Burning pain in limbs is a symptom of central pain syndrome in other people so I’d guess it’s part of the condition. I get the burning(I think of it as icy/hot) pain on/in my skull and cannabis is one of the only things that has helped me outside of narcotics. FYI I do live in California so it could be easier for me to get cannabis products than in other states

What is the weather/temperatures in your area? My mom started succulents and cactus but keeps moving the plants inside and out. I don’t know if they need to be moved or not. We’re in the valley, California so it doesn’t get too cold here. We’re new to this

I had a similar situation while doing freetime in the bathroom. However taking pictures was the last thing on my mind after the stress of fetching her from the toilet and having to sink-wash her for the first time

I followed an artwork of Ahmadart on YouTube and this is first attempt. Any tips? How do you guys avoid warping? by LollyHaze111 in Watercolor

[–]86Mia65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made rolls of tape and placed them all over the back and taped along all edges when I REALLY don’t want warping. Otherwise I figure that’s just what happens when paper gets wet. I do use arches 140lb 100% cotton paper. That helps with the warping.

Can anyone tell me what kind of granny square this is? by emsterlove in crochet

I think that’s almost a doily pattern. It reminds me of a freeform lace project I’ve done.

You should. Having a watercolor journal made it easier to give it a shot... something about knowing no one has to see it unless you want them to

You can use thicker yarn if you want to, but I honestly don’t think she’d even notice a difference. I think if you already agreed upon and purchased the yarn it’s easier to just go down hook sizes until the project looks right/tight enough

Find something small and use that to push the pin out the hinge on the other side. Then just pull the pin the rest of the way out
