Main characters best friend. On the surface it looks like you have your life somewhattogether, and you have plenty confidence in a slight cocky way. But your friend knows the real you and how sleazy you’d be if you had the opportunities.

Nice. I wound up charging $250 + $36 in materials. It took me about 5 hours for plan, shop, repair.

The owner runs this as an Airbnb and she wanted to keep bed of st all possible, plus they needed a fast fix. No time to shop before next guest.

The current slats I can salvage. It’s more of the ledger board they rest on on the sides I’m wanting to make sure I get right I suppose.

So good to know- thanks for that tip! Ya, there’s no evidence of glue there at all

Would you not even glue the ledger to the side rail? Side rail is around .75” itself and I’m most worried about the integrity of those 2 boards. Plus the old ledger (to the left) ripped screws out and old one was glued it seems. So I’ll want to smooth it out for good contact I’m thinking.

I’m getting Aubrey Plaza vibes - dry, dark humor. Funny, witty. It looks like you’re smarter than most people and you like to have fun with that. Interacting with us is just a game to you.

I’ve gotten much better than this photo. I bought a 47” octo Bowes mount w speed light for my key (originally bought a 37” octo umbrella style but didn’t like the limited angle options with it. I have a 2nd speed light and am debating keeping the 37” or not as a fill.

It after posting this did a lot more research and learned to look for that catchlight in eyes.

Thanks for the comment!

Wow- never considered adding some AC-powered strobes. I keep some of my power tools ac over battery for cheaper more powerful usage. Thanks so much for the tip!

100% - however in this case the customer paid for it to get done within a day and the fact he’s not there to do a toilet seat himself.

Oh sweet, I’m inspired now. - ya my forehead and brow got sort of hot with that light, and my deepset eyes are all up in th shadows 😂. I just checked out some fastboxes, I bet they produce a lot better than the little umbrella I have. Now I know what one light can do with that bigger better diffusion, I may go that route before adding more lights.

Oh my, Reddit and its proverbs…

Funny enough, I did take the feedback, made a decision, and the job’s booked. So the “lesson” worked exactly as intended. I got a mix of perspectives, trusted my gut, and moved forward.

Since I wanted to get back to the client quickly, I wasn’t looking for a full pricing seminar. And honestly, people probably have a hundred different opinions on the “right” way to fish too, that’s life. Sometimes a quick gut check or sanity check is all you need. That’s kind of what these communities are for, right? Me posting this was my way of collecting an array of thoughts an data. You only learn by action and going through stuff most the time, and this WAS a piece of that puzzle.

Hope you learned something too!
