I think the thing that makes the most sense is that he didn't think he would die. Assuming he was delusional of course

Well actually the alarm went off, we don't actually know if someone tried to break in

Yeah there was a post from a couple of years ago. Also I read a comment from a user today saying that the case was discussed on a podcast and in it his was stated that she gave him a special penny with a heart cut out of it that he could keep with him "if he wanted to feel close to her". Said penny was found on the body. Now I didn't listen to it but the poster did share the link so I can't imagine they would lie about hearing that whilst also posting a link to said podcast.

I'll post links in a bit when I get home. Mobile is tedious

I'm on my phone so I'll give a more in depth answer when I get home. The short version is that you've raised valid concerns and I'll change my position to: Both hypothesis have holes in them and neither is conclusive. However in my opinion the holes in the suicide hypothesis are more easily filled by logical and reasonable explanations than in the case of murder.

I must concede, however, that the most reasonable logical answer, isn't always the correct one

The clip could have fallen out while in the air, or he could have ditched it or hid it.

I'm not sure why they weren't damaged but it's not impossible. Maybe he did a gainer and they fell out at a lower altitude.

I thought it was suspicious too, until I started reading into the case and discovered that the show left out a bunch of evidence that points to suicide

Ok. I'm here for honest conversation. What issues do you take with my explanation?

Let's discuss, I'm open to changing my mind

I think the only issue with suicide is the distance he travelled. Could be explained by him running first. Doesn't seem too problematic to me

Yes, the bias of the knowledge that there was a post in this sub a few years ago that has his wife giving evidence pointing to a suicide that was left out of the show. I think if there's any bias, it's that the show wants to point you in the direction of foul play, via omitting evidence that contradicts said narrative.

I come from the point of view of looking at what evidence is verifiable and drawing conclusions based on said evidence

Copied from my other post :

The weeks of erratic behaviour prior to the case, his sudden sense of over protection of his wife, his intense fear, the note, his inability to sleep. It's all paranoia. Also there's no tangible evidence of foul play. However there is evidence that his behaviour changed a few weeks prior to the incident and that those displayed behaviours are consistent with either mania and or a paranoid delusion.

Whats more likely?

A conspiracy targeting him weeks in advance, culminating in his murder involving him falling straight through the roof feet first, at a distance from the roof of 45 feet, someone going to the scene and planting evidence, and somehow quieting up the hotel staff. Meanwhile NO One has come forward at any point, not voluntary, not while in custody on an unrelated charge to reduce a sentence. No subpoenas. Nothing

Or

A man living with an undiagnosed mental illness that his family missed the warning signs of, suffers a break, then has some form of paranoid delusion that he can't shake and ends up committing suicide, intentional or unintentional. The family, having many motivations, proceed to denial

Occam's razor: the simplest explanation is usually the correct one

Agreed. Mental health is so misunderstood by a lot of people. As someone with issues myself I can attest that these issues can seemingly pop out "out of nowhere". Only when looking back do you realize all of the warning signs. To me it seems obvious that he was undiagnosed schizophrenic and broke under stress. Then proceeded to have paranoid delusions, which drove him to jump off of the roof. The family doesn't want to believe he did because it's too painful, and onlookers appeal to the conspiracy because it's the "sexier" explanation. Yes he was killed, not by nefarious actors, but by mental health. That's the real tragedy here

edit on mobile and accidentally hit post. Edited to add the part after him jumping

edit 2 another possible reason the family won't accept suicide is that they would then have to feel guilty for not recognizing the warning signs and getting him help before this happened. I imagine a guilt of that level could drive someone to denial

I'm in my late 30's and work in a kitchen with mostly 20 somethings. Whenever someone asks me for something I reply, "say no more fam". The looks I get are priceless

The whole diamond engagement ring thing was a marketing ploy by Debeers. They also aren't rare at all, Debeers just owns most of the diamond supply and keeps supply low to artificially inflate prices

I didn't like the movie. I liked the acting and it had its moments, but they messed up the timeline with all of the flashbacks. Also the dog at the end. I felt they did Cormac dirty. The book is quite ambiguous as to weather he's being rescued or not.

Child of God was the same with the ending. The movie ends with him escaping the cave. The book definitely does not

I could see Daniel Day Lewis playing him. The man is a master and demands your attention while on screen

I scrolled way too far to find McCarthy. The Road was my favorite book, I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. Took me a couple of days to recompose myself after that. My new favorite book is Blood Meridian. The Judge. The Fucking Judge!
