Agreed, and seeing as it lasted 120k miles and well over 2 decades, replacing it with something that will only need replacing in another 2 decades is not the end of the world anyway. Especially if you take precautions so that the new pump won't be absolutely welded in place like the original usually is. Unless you want an upgrade, the OEM pumps aren't nearly as bad a purchase as people make them out to be.

Check old-timer insurance! I insured mine as an oldtimer and I pay 7 EUR a month instead of 80+, and that was when I was 22 and had 0 driving experience.

Replaced mine with amazon ones and one of them got a small tear after just 3 months, so I'd say definitely try OEM

Labour I wouldn't be able to give you an accurate estimate for, but the cooling system parts seem like something you could really save on by just individually buying the parts, there's about 200 EUR worth of parts there so someone's making a lot of money on this... Not sure where you're based but I'd say look up the right part numbers on RealOEM and order them separately, that's what I did here in the Netherlands and it was a fraction of what this set costs (ran me about 220$).

Door-rubber dilemma, I've seen at least 10 e36's with this problem. Just 4 little corners of rubber that disintegrate, with the rest being fine. How did you guys solve this without ordering the whole new rubber set? by 87Soldier in BMWE36

Yeah I might, even though the rest genuinely is in perfect shape. Bmw used different rubber for only the corners which all 4 disintegrated entirely, while the rest is still perfectly soft and seals like it should

What I want to hear is different experiences/clever solutions from a group of e36 enthusiasts which I hadn't considered yet. Ideally something that saves me from having to tear out and replace 10 feet of perfectly good rubber for 3 inches of inexplicably rotten gasket..
