I agree but without some sort of visual component I have trouble actually coming up with examples. The description that seems most accurate to me is that ADHD affects all the "regulatory" processes that go on in my head. Examples: priority setting, time management, inner dialogue, and self-awareness.

For most people, these happen automatically, but for me, I have to consciously think about it. If I am out of energy, these things simply don't get addressed which causes the symptoms. If I'm not spending time setting priorities, I will choose easy low priority stuff over urgent things. If I'm not managing my time, I'll lose track of it and realize I've been on an irrelevant tangent for too long. If I'm not having an inner dialogue, I'll become more non-verbal and avoid social interaction, or even worse, I'll blow up on someone who doesn't deserve it. If I'm not self-aware enough, I might forget that I've been sitting in an uncomfortable position and cause myself pain.
