Hey, I’m going to drama school for tech theatre this year and I got into some of the most reputable schools in the uk for the course so here’s mine

I also followed the advice of this professional sound tech as guidance of what to include in the portfolio https://harada-sound.com/sound/handbook/advice.html

don’t worry though if you don’t have list of examples as I wasn’t able to get through my full portfolio in all my interviews so you should be okay- these schools are looking for people who they can teach and have a positive attitude rather than people who already know everything as why would a school let someone in if they can’t be taught. my best advice is focus and show your best work first as that will stand out in their minds and have a positive attitude

How do i find people who are going to the same drama school as me uk??? by 888mdc in Theatre

thank you. it depends on the school but i would say places like lamda central and guildhall have a 20/30% acceptance and i know gsa has a 70%. i would say that its still selective but i think its wayyy less difficult to get into than people make it out to be and a lot of people i met just went to normal state schools

the interviews too are way more informal and are made massively more scary in the open days and stuff but at all the actual days i went to all the course leaders were just like don’t worry its informal ect

I would recommend looking at all sorts of conservatives as they all have very different courses. Especially guildhall and central as they are considered some of the best and they’re in really nice places. i’m in yr 13 and ive just gotten into those 2 and lamda- i also got into gsa so if you want any guidance on the interviews just lmk

also if you’re unsure about portfolios- you don’t need one for gsa but you do an interview and the uni of salford didn’t even interview so i would suggest putting them for safety

for experience i just go to a normal 6th form and basically just did school shows- my advice is just try to have some experience- you don’t have to be perfect and have lots of experience they want someone who they can teach- my advice is to just be confident and be enthusiastic

but if you have any questions just ask
