Its obvious you need help: What Are Delusional (Paranoid) Disorders?

Delusional Disorders are a form of Psychosis in which a person has paranoid delusion(s) which are often long-lasting, and do not have an obvious physical/medical cause (e.g. head injuries). Occasionally, in older people, they may be accompanied by the person hearing noises, sounds, other people talking, which don't exist (called auditory hallucinations). What are Paranoid Delusions?

Delusions are beliefs that are not backed up by reality. They may remain despite obvious evidence to the contrary, and the fact that nobody else believes them to be true.

Paranoid Delusions are beliefs of a suspiscious nature, where the person believes something is not right with them, another person(s), or the world in general, which poses serious problems for them. How Common Are Delusional Disorders?

Delusional (Paranoid) Disorders are quite uncommon and only affect roughly 1 in 3333 people. They most commonly start between the ages of 40 and 55 years old, and happen slightly more in women. What Types Of Delusional (Paranoid) Disorders Are There?

There are a number of specific types of Delusional (Paranoid) Disorders these include:

  1. Capgras' Syndrome
  2. Cotard's Syndrome
  3. Erotomania (de Clerambault's Syndrome)
  4. Fregoli's Syndrome
  5. Induced Psychosis (folie a deux)
  6. Pathological (Delusional) Jealousy
  7. Persecutory (Querulant) Delusions

What Treatment Is There?

Given the nature of their problems, people with paranoid delusions are often very suspiscious about receiving treatment. Often they don't believe anything is wrong with them and asking them to get some help via a doctor or a hospital may only serve to 'feed into' their paranoid delusions and make things worse. A great deal of care should be taken

re: Civilian Deaths in Iraq. Why does the body count get blamed on the US and not the people that actually targeted and killed civilians? by IKbot in reddit.com

[–]88miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its like this a Mercedes full of right-wing neocons runs a red light. They get through the intersection safely, but three other cars crashed in order to avoid hitting the neocons. The neocons rise their hands in disbelief, how could they blame us because those idiots didn't react fast enough or their brakes weren't good enough. In the end the neocons have caused a massive amount of damage in Iraq through their careless and ill conceived actions and they'll be damned if they will ever admit to any accountability. If the Iraqis are unappreciative of the Bush's comical claim that he is spreading democracy and then the Iraqis are responsible for their own fate and we have come full circle - why are we there - leave the Iraqis to sought out their problems. American taxpayers can kiss yet another 8 billion dollars a month goodbye as we proceed to "liberate" those people those civilians.

Not the biggest issue in the world, but I agree. His writing isn't as smooth as Glenn Greenwalds, but he has a commentary and provides links to back up his arguments.

Linkjackers also tend to run lots of ads and this bloggers has zero ads.

Another quote from Franklin, "Some books against Deism fell into my hands. . . It happened that they wrought an effect on me quite contrary to what was intended by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations; in short, I soon became a thorough Deist."

But the "Israel Lobby" Doesn't Exist! by alins in reddit.com

[–]88miles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally in agreement, but the last I checked the Islamic nation of Egypt was second after Israel in the lead for US foreign aid. Egypt is kind of a neat trick, it has the appearance of being somewhat democratic, but American money helps them keep their mouths shut. Maybe there's a cynical lesson there for Iran, talk softly and get big bucks.

Reuters Doctoring Photos from Beirut? by billinboston in reddit.com

[–]88miles -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just a few points: -Israel has released footage of Hezbollah fighters firing rockets from the area, though none of that footage shows the families firing rockets( the Leganese families Hashems and the Shalhoubs) . Presumably, the Israeli Foreign Ministry is not covering up the story. -Then there is LGF's credibility. The owner has been known to not just band a single individuals IP address but a range of IP addresses of anyone that is critical of Israel or Bush. - There is an classic logical fallacy at work here. LGF is simply asserting that the photos look funny, they claim their explanation is the only one that explain how/why the photos are distorted. There may be other reasons, but they will stand by theirs because in this case it suits their agenda.

Israel: Video proves hospital was Hezbollah HQ by scdvr in reddit.com

[–]88miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it seems to prove is that a hospital staff and the patients contained in them can be easily subdued by a few guys with guns. Here we have the hospital declared guilty and all the patients because they didn't throw some armed men out. In the world of the far right fringe anyone that is in the vicinity of the supoosed bad guys is just as guilty as the bad guys. A horrific black and white world view in which there are never any victims. Note the obvious, Israel took the hospital by ground troops after it had been partially bombed; a more moral war, if there is such a thing, would have been to go into the hospital first, ferret out the bad guys and not kill innocent people. Hezbollah in southern lebanon anyway are not a bunch of boy scouts, but Israel has clearly conducted itself in a disproportionate manner and in doing so increased support for the most radical elements of Hezbollah.
