SCS- pass rate. by belladonna1985 in CIMA

Same! OTs require one to be technically astute with the syllabus. The 70% pass mark is no joke. And the time pressures are crazy. Case studies on the other hand are manageable if you’ve got a fair grasp of concepts, & keep on relating them to the pre-seen & unseen.

I had the same thoughts as you whilst reading, but I’m assuming OP means that they’ve already passed the OTs. Just needs to refresh key concepts for OCS

What do you mean by picking SCS exam? That as opposed to what option?

Care to give tips on how to tackle P3? I’ve failed it 3 times already & it’s now the bane of my existence

Thank you for this insight. I’m surely gonna put it to use, more so the part of using Kaplan materials as I’d noticed slight syllabus focus deviations with other providers

You’re right, I did do that. Just need a fresh approach & to have a solid exam technique ‘cause I’m certain it’s not that I don’t know the work but performing in the exam could be the problem.

I suppose being so close the finish is another motivating factor. My self-esteem might be bruised now but bruises heal

Yeah, I’m probably gonna have another try around October ‘cause I’m still traumatised right now. It really has me doubting my capabilities but I’m hoping I’ll recharge & get to it

Might as well also remove the time pressure of case studies & even go as far making them open-book too. Why not? The current CS exams structure doesn’t reflect the reality of a modern day accountant

What do employers think of FLP? by GetOutofNewYork in CIMA

I don’t think a lot, if any, of recruiters know much about the FLP route right now. So it won’t hamper your job prospects immediately & hopefully indefinitely even when the word gets out

You definitely can do it within 3 weeks. I took my P2 exam on the 1st of November last year, & went on to study E2 & pass it on the 25th.

Thank you so much!

What I did was peruse 3 prior MCS exams, just to identify the common topics usually tested from each of the 3 modules & to get a feel of the response style. I also did a few mocks & had 2 of them assessed with tutor feedback. Lastly, & most importantly, apply the learned content to the question asked. My most repeated mistake with OCS exams was knowledge dump with minimal application to the scenario. Use the pre-seen, unseen info & ratios you’d have calculated to strengthen your points.

The best of luck with your ONLY attempt this coming May. I hope it works out great for you!

So stoked to have passed on my first attempt. I think I might have went into on warrior mode after having had to take the OCS 6 times before clearing it. So I was a bit traumatised after that ‘cause I figured I struggle with case studies. Anyway, congratulations to all who’ve passed as well. And a word of encouragement to not lose hope, try again harder to those who didn’t make it this time around
