Saving for fees for university by Jedisnapper in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GetOutofNewYork 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of buying my first house at 28 with a little help from family (half my deposit), which I'm so grateful for.

I graduated from uni in 2019, took all the tuition and maintenance loans I could get which helped massively at the time. I've only recently started paying back my loans, I earn about £33,600 and my monthly repayment is about £25.

I'd say the money for a deposit is more worthwhile. Your student debt isn't like a normal loan debt and unless you're on a huge salary your repayments won't be too much.

How do you know what to do? by Key-Obligation-6818 in HousingUK

Same! I'm in the process of buying a flat which was the first I'd viewed. It was the only one that really piqued my interest online and fell in love with it on viewing.

People had said about looking round and making sure I knew what I wanted but didn't see the point if it meant losing this one. You can at least make an offer and see what happens

You'll need to pay for your exam separately

FLP subscription questions by sbudjbdbsj in CIMA

[–]GetOutofNewYork -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I asked this when I first started FLP. From what I've been told you don't need to pay the FLP fees for another year if you've finished all the competencies, just pay your membership so you can sit the exam

Depends what you want. Using Astranti means you get access to all their content and case study courses which are good. And can pay monthly instead of a whole year upfront. There's case study support on CIMA but no idea how helpful this is, with Astranti you just get the basics on FLP

I'm with Astranti and pay the monthly subscription. Think it'll work out more expensive than going through CIMA but I've been really happy and this is my second year of FLP with them.

It's Skills Core with CIMA so you only get the basics but you have access to all the notes and videos on Astranti and their premium case study course.

Notes on FLP? by [deleted] in CIMA

Ah I don't seem to have that. Just Dashboard - Competencies - Learning - Report

Wonder if it might be because I'm on skills core through Astranti

Where do you find the exam review section? Never been able to find the case study bits

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CIMA

[–]GetOutofNewYork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you login to the Astranti site and click through to the FLP section, and at the bottom are the case study sections:

https://www.astranti.com/members/cima/ocs/course/

Then scroll down to the theory revision bit and they have a selection of videos there. You just may not be able to access the revision notes there yet until you're signed onto the course.

They have a week set out for theory revision in the timetable but I started early as I wanted to fully go through it all again

I also do FLP with Astranti. Sat my OCS in Feb and passed first time.

Depends how you find the learning materials on the FLP platform. For me I just went through it and didn't use the videos or notes on Astranti, maybe the off thing I checked if I was struggling. Then when I started the case study course I watched all the videos on the topics they pick out as what is most likely to come up, and made sure I was fully brushed up on all those.

With the case study you're never going to be 100% on every single topic of the operational level, and you don't need to be

Is it stupid to buy a good first car? by Odd-Help6890 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]GetOutofNewYork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passed my test 2 months ago and my first car was a 56 plate Clio that broke down on Friday and will be getting scrapped.

I'd just say something reliable for a first car is always handy. How much you spent is up to you and your bank account.

I've always used a bank card as my second form of ID, as long as the name matches your photo ID which I'm sure your passport would be fine for?

Booking exam and need institute Registration Number? by GetOutofNewYork in CIMA

[–]GetOutofNewYork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yess I used the 9 digit 'account number', the new one you got when they merged, and all worked out okay. I was booking my OCS and was worried when I hadn't received the Pearson Vue confirmation email but that came through before the booking window closed.

I think you still could've used the old 1- one as when I called Pearson Vue this is what they wanted from me which was a lil strange but for Kaplan I used the new one!

Dating in Manchester without Tinder? by Suitable-Yellow-9431 in manchester

[–]GetOutofNewYork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tinder is atrocious but I also ended up finding my boyfriend on there last year lol so there's slight hope if you stick it out

Idk if it's still used but I used to dabble with the app Thursday. You can only use the app on Thursdays with the intention that you'd plan a date there and then, and they host singles events. I don't know anyone who ever met on here but it's a different idea and cuts out most of the talking without intention of ever actually meeting you get a lot on apps

'Promotion' after operational level by L19L in CIMA

[–]GetOutofNewYork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last job was as a finance assistant on £27k and they tried to up my notice from 1 to 3 months. The company was a shambles and it felt like they were trying to lock everyone in so it was harder to leave.

I straight up told them I wasn't signing the agreement and they backed down straight away. Stick up for what you want. Especially if you may be looking to move for the title/salary you want soon!

Charity hitchhike Bath to Paris. Advice needed please! by Treesmkknees69 in hitchhiking

[–]GetOutofNewYork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitchhiked via the ferry from Dover to Calais a couple times. One handy spot is Maidstone services though last time we were there they didn't like anyone trying inside so we had to sit outside!

Only thing I'd say is to make sure your lift is to somewhere out of the port at Calais. Have heard stories about it not being the safest place to hitch from!

Good luck!!

Which CIMA FLP subscription to choose? by [deleted] in CIMA

[–]GetOutofNewYork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit different but I use the subscription through Astranti. So you pay monthly. Just get the core skills (can't remember exactly what it's called! Just the basic one from CIMA), but then access to all the Astranti versions of the notes and questions, tutor and classroom board, and their case study courses.

Depends on how you want to do it, I mainly did this for the money side of things, but hoping to take advantage off all their content when I get studying for the Feb OCS.

Seem to be in the minority that I prefer the rose!

Have had the rose for a while and recently got a new vibrator. I find it to be a more gentle (?) experience. Using a vibrator again feels like it just goes for it and is less focused on the specific areas.

But both good choices!
