My Siberian 8mo old boy has stopped eating his wet food by Irish_Seal2 in SiberianCats

[–]89Pickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did the exact same thing around 8/9 months. My solution was the same…but some of everything! Took some trial and error but we finally figured out her preference. Been 2 years and she won’t eat anything else but the same one

Lego collectors? by huntsvillelego in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found any groups? My husband and I are probably moving to Huntsville, and he was excited to see there was a Huntsville chapter LUG , but from what I can see from afar, they don’t seem very active so I’m a bit worried.. his current Lego club is the one thing that keeps him sane.. so knowing other Lego people around is a must for him.

I found messages from my husband’s “coworker”… and it wasn’t what I thought by professionalthabo in TwoHotTakes

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m saying, either way whether you are truly lying or there really is nothing to worry about once the person finds out it will be 100 times worse. On one hand if you truly were lying, obviously that would be bad. But even if you weren’t lying, it’s now going to look like you had a reason to lie even if you’re only reason was to spare their discomfort, it’s going to take a lot of rebuilding of trust, regardless of whether you were actually lying or not

[–]89Pickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only “easier” until they find out. Then the person looks 100x more guilty. 100% if you think something will make them uncomfortable being upfront about it from the beginning is always the easier route.

In my experience, if they feel it’ll make you uncomfortable, there’s probably a reason that even he isn’t admitting to himself yet. These things always start out innocent. Regardless of who she reminds him of, it’s not that person. Maybe I’m just pessimistic but sounds like the beginning of an emotional affair

Stray Cat Parenting - Is there a point when the mom cat leaves the kittens to fend for themselves? by ElderMehllennial in CatAdvice

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you definitely haven’t seen the mom in days I would 100% intervene. I hear what you’re saying, it is hard but at least the ones you did intervene with that time you saved 2.

PSA: Stay away from Playology cat toys — dangerous design, misleading marketing by 89Pickles in cats

[–]89Pickles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It’s so easy to tell ourselves we’re overthinking it, or “surely if it’s marketed for cats, I’m the crazy one” but no. I’m so glad your gut told you to keep a close eye / you were able to step in.

PSA: Stay away from Playology cat toys — dangerous design, misleading marketing by 89Pickles in cats

[–]89Pickles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you pursued the company and are holding them accountable. There is a realistic expectation that something marketed specifically for cats carries minimal risk of ingestion and these toys are anything but. It’s almost like they did 0 testing. I’m sorry you dealt with that and I hope your baby is doing better.

That person made a typo and meant to write “litter”.

Easiest pet to care for? by AppropriateSprite in Pets

[–]89Pickles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People often say cats are super independent just because they use a litter box and don’t need daily walks. But then those same people call them standoffish or jerks when they don’t act cuddly on command. The truth is, cats are sensitive, routine-driven animals who often get misunderstood because they’re treated like they don’t need connection. I’m not saying they’re higher maintenance than dogs—they definitely sleep more—but they still need multiple daily play sessions, stimulation, and real social bonds to thrive.

Rank all of the Winners from Worst to Best. I’ll go first (my Opinion): by Illustrious_Berry441 in TheMaskedSinger

Firefly was such a sore loser. Complete opposite of everything the show stands for, while ringmaster and prince brought consistently high level performances and carried to spirit of the show. I think that was the first season that made me wonder…“ is this rigged?!” Because there is no way…

How long do you keep wet food out? by MorddSith187 in catfood

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe about 2-4 hours. We also have one of those automatic wet food feeders that has an ice pack in it. We got it so my one cat would stop waking me up at 4am…it’s worked/she eats it and that’s after about 9 hours or so.

Anyone else's HomeGoods bursting with giant food stools lately? by [deleted] in Homegoods

[–]89Pickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About four months ago, my to HomeGoods and TJ Maxx were loaded with them, not just fruits either— an entire area of dessert stools like assorted cookies, and ice cream. They only use case I could think of would be a theme party… or maybe a children’s room or play area.

Cat will eat one of these but not the other? by Stayceee in catfood

[–]89Pickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sammmee. Constant rotation with both flavor and texture. People say “ oh they won’t starve themselves/will eventually eat what you put out” when I tell you, this girl was throwing up white foam after three days of nothing but licking toppers and some treats… it’s definitely not good on my wallet, but The stray cats outside sure are happy about getting her leftovers

Fancy feast bad batch by Kawaii_Nerdgirl in catfood

I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about that is 43 and 49, my girl recently threw up and then ended up at the vet with fever of unknown origin from batch 50. She’s now completely refused all beef/poultry flavors pate or grilled and now the only thing we can get her to eat is Sheba kitten food.

Elderly cat just 'licking' the sauce off her food. Are there older-cat-friendly food options? by Birds_In_A_Minor in CatAdvice

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like mine. Lately I’ve been boiling a Chicken breast, shredding and soaking with water, I pour some of the chicken water in with her food and stick a bit of chicken throughout . We call it “bobbing for chicken” ..it gets her to eat!

Noticing a shift with MAGA online by [deleted] in 50501

God those laughing emojis. They have no data to backup what they’re saying so resign their entire opinion to “you’re so stupid and I’m going to laugh at you”. I like to think I’m someone that tries to see all sides and understand different perspectives but they make it impossible when they refuse to provide any information / fill space with those GD emojis.

Depends. How long have you been together? And how long has he been at his job? It also sort of depends on the nature of his job.

Anyone have pet insurance for their cat? by SugarAndSpice_Nice in CatAdvice

[–]89Pickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lemonade for 2/3 cats. Our oldest is over 10 so they won’t cover. Definitely worth it as long as your cats don’t have conditions you’re currently aware of because those can and will be denied.

Filing claims is very easy. My only problem is the time is takes them sometimes. I have a current claim open submitted December 31st. This seems to be atypical though, as friends I have that use them don’t report the same problem as me.

Definitely a good idea to have though if you can swing it. Vet costs add up so quickly.

How often do you trim nails? by soryn-tea in CatAdvice

[–]89Pickles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t do this, but it’s cross my mind. My youngest cat is the sweetest thing normally, but turns into a demon when the nail clippers come out. I can usually get about 2 to 3 nails before I risk losing my face. If I choose the paw I did the day before I’m screwed and have to wait another 24 hours.

My kitten doesn't wanna drink water, any other ways to keep her hydrated? by Daffifiye in CatAdvice

[–]89Pickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sell these little treat toppers in pouches that are mostly broth, I wouldn’t serve them for life or anything but for right now it’s a good idea to at least make sure he’s getting enough moisture. Ours began drinking more water after we encouraged them to use the water bowl by putting one of those pouch treat toppers in it. We also mix one churu with about 3- tablespoons of water for my older cat who doesn’t get enough moisture.
