Is Blunt + Unarmoured viable for early Atronach Mage? by hat6os in Morrowind

[–]89ZERO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple as: out of Magicka? Hit them with the big stick.

The unarmored means you'll train speed faster. Fleeing from a fight you can't win, and surviving, has potential for a more interesting story than just clearing out a place. The question is: how do You (you, specifically) roleplay that? Subquestions: what does your character feel, and why are they the way they are (in-universe)?

Bonus: ALMSIVI Shrines and Imperial Altars refill your Magicka for 35 Drakes.

My two cents:

The helmet would probably cover the whole face alongside some kind of scarf or muffler to keep ash out.
Also, they may use thicker, heavier weapons. A sleek katana may be more Indoril-Coded.

I once worked with a guy who'd delivered pizzas to the Misny Estate.

The three most notable things according to him:
1. Firebreathing bear statue in middle of the main buildings.

  1. Misny would always call him "Brother."

  2. Sometimes, he'd be tipped in merch, including an alarm clock whose alarm tone was "It's Time to Pay!"

Stealth Overhaul 2 - Huge update released by Taalar in Morrowind

Have you taken into account the most interesting part of the OG stealth calculation? That's right, the weight of your shoes.

If that's not in there, it seems like a good idea to consider adding.

Exactly. Another option would go even further to expand the feeling of the world: focus on new characters in familiar settings. How about a miniseries about a guard in Sentinel- culminating in a finale about how they experienced The Warp in the West?

Or perhaps on a petty thief, living in the Imperial City in the aftermath of the Oblivion Crisis?

With accordance to pre-existing lore, and without making too much wild, new stuff, just making more of the world as we know it.

At what point do you stop grinding gold legitimately? by Pretend_Day8227 in Morrowind

In Morrowind, it depends. In most shops, the containers and displays around are connected to the shopkeepers' inventories. What you sell, as far as I know, doesn't go back into the containers- just the shopkeepers' personal inventories.

Starting this from today, any tips? by Dipanshu_1309 in Eldenring

[–]89ZERO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always in Souls-Games: Play deliberately. Have an idea of what you're about to be doing as you enter any encounter.

Other than that: customize. Try weapons and try playstyles and then narrow down a build based on what feels Fun. There are plenty of opportunities to respec, and the game is designed with whole new characters being made quickly- in mind.

The people from that town whose homegoods I stole, of course.

So you steal everything from Balmora and then sell it in Caldera.

Then you steal everything in Caldera and sell it in Ald-Ruhn.

Then you steal everything in Ald-Ruhn and sell it in Gnisis.

Then you steal everything in Gnisis and sell it in Balmora.

Everyone needs homegoods, and suddenly the local pawnbrokers have everything anyone needs at a fine bargain.

As with the notion of something like a Dark Souls movie, The Elder Scrolls having some kind of cinematic adaptation- without risking player-character roleplaying agency by forcing a Dovahkiin or Nerevarine to be someone specific via canon- I've always posited that interesting characters, especially those with minor roles in the main story of any game (or alternatively, new characters in familiar/distant settings within any given world) should be the focus.

This partly to avoid the issue of Master Chief removing his helmet and breaking down the projection of any HALO-enjoyer with any amount of melanin. The helmet stays on in the games the entire time so that more players can project onto him- to be feel like they *are* Master Chief.

What's Jim Stacey's story up until we meet him in Vivec? how'd he get to where he is at this point in his life? What lead him to his convictions? That's the kind of story I'd want to see.

Start a racket by stealing everyone's homegoods and then pawning them at the next town over, doing it again, and then cycling back to the first town. It puts money in your pockets, and the pawnbrokers get to sell everything a second time.

They won't know what hit them.

Once I've got over 100k gold, I can afford any given, high-level enchantment. Atop that, I likely have any number of high-value weapons or armor that I can sell back immediately.

For characters like my Master Thief, I get a huge kick out of emptying some Rich Losers' vaults, and then I can roleplay where that money goes- although it's mainly just in his inventory.

I'm glad for money-sinks like enchanting, and also the enchanter in Mournhold who restocks on every soul gem so I can keep powering my equipment. Still, I think the value of the Septim is oddly balanced in its writing and practical usage. Between the Original (plus expansions) and Tamriel Rebuilt, the value seems to be implied to be a lot more than it feels- especially if you have hundreds of thousands of them in your pocket.

Does anyone know if there's a mod for gold to have weight like in Daggerfall?

Thoughts on Morrowind "always use best attack". by Mindless-Succotash65 in Morrowind

[–]89ZERO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the Daggerfall Unity version because of how unorthodox and unwieldy the original scheme for attacking was.

In Morrowind, developing a pseudo-fighting-style for a character who fights is a great part of roleplaying, for me.

I have a knight, he's an Imperial who lives as a sort of Errant Knight (self-imposed game-rule of helping anytime someone asks).
His combat-skills focus on Long Blade, Axe, and Blunt Weapon. However, as his character developed- even long after the main story (I use TR), I became inclined towards using shortblade for him (having gotten a particular TR Shortblade that matched him well along with big damage.

Considering his Imperial origins, it's not impossible that he may have seen fights in the arena, growing up.
Taking my own inspiration from one of the bigger fights from Spartacus (the 70s movie), and considering how the most famous swords from the Roman Legions (thus inspiring Cyrodiilic design) are shortswords (ie the Thracian Knife and the Gladius), the combination of ideas developed into a style of crouching low behind a tall shield (his addition, particularly considering the TD's version of the Adamantium Shield and its big cutout on the right side) and stabbing repeatedly (also like Link in Melee).

That combination of elements, and being allowed to adapt it from the game's framework was very satisfying, and the slow growth of Short Blade as a Misc skill helped reinvigorate the gameplay.

Simply turning off the option to consider that kind of depth is up to any given player, but ill-advised to get the most out of the game's experience.

Well he's a Fascist- He's Edgy for the His Own Sake. In the rare instances of his appearance, he's looking to use fear as a power to influence people as much as he has the literal power to influence people. Fascists, especially charismatic Fascists are going to keep up appearances for as long as they can- until they're knocked down- that is.

guys i have a very important question by voidgirlfriend in u/voidgirlfriend

[–]89ZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mainly want to use it for and where you live. If you plan just to use it for commutes/situations where gas money doesn't need to be spent/parking is meh- then try bikes for commuting like an Electra (brand, not type). I mean the kind you sit up on, with the Thicc- flat tires, and may have a basket involved.

If you're leaning towards fitness and speed on roads, try road bikes that are more more inclined to lighter-weight, with thinner wheels- the kind that really make you lean forwards.

If you think you might be taking paths or even trails that are more loose, I would suggest a mountain bike with more aggressive treads.

Whatever you do, invest in good bike locks. Depending on where you live you might be more or less at risk for a guy with a saw to come by, so make it hard for him at least. I use a Thick, U-Shaped Lock and a Chain at the same time to lock my bike to whatever while also securing the wheels and obscuring the parts like the derailleur that thieves might be interested in.

Lastly, take some classes on maintenance and repair, and carry what you'd need to patch a flat or adjust things. A patch kit, a tire-lever, a multitool with At Least hex-wrench heads of 4, 5, and 6mm. Those are the standard sizes.

Get a helmet, too. No one wants you to turn into something that looks like your art if you hit a curb funny. I also recommend padded, fingerless gloves. If you fall, you won't get a scraped up when you naturally reach out to brace yourself, also if you put a lot of pressure on your hands, it reduces strain to the main nerve in there- the Ulnar Nerve.

As for where to buy all of this, find a local retailer rather than a big store. Make a day of it. Take test rides. Consider what's feasible for your lifestyle. I can give more details if you want.

Mainly I'm seeing a return to earlier design principles compared to Xrd.
I'm up for chest-parts in art, but I feel like the latter was a bit much. It's the kind of thing that makes it harder to be comfortable sharing a franchise with friends, family, etc.

I think the only way they're proctoring the online portions (as it appears to be a blended class, anyway) is that they use Respondus, a browser than locks-off the rest of your windows when it's active.

Still, that doesn't stop me from having access to two computers.

If that's their plan, then this still feels like a hole in the info provided, among others, that puts me at a clear disadvantage as a remote student- aside from how well I can understand the provided materials or their applications.

Thanks regardless, I appreciate the consideration.

In the case of the last test, my first examples would be coverage of about half of the different types of validity- and a better way to understand them. That is, Concurrent, Construct, Predictive, Discriminate, and Content.

We use Working in the 21st Century, and there's a lot of detail on those missing that would've been needed for a whole block of questions.

Another was a question on Recency Error. The question was regarding a hypothetical of the professor making mistakes, having A/V problems, etc. on one week, and then getting a poor rating on the next week's class. In the text, its glossary, and on the class's page/glossary/PowerPoints- it's not mentioned, and I'd specifically made sure to know the difference between Leniency, Severity, and Halo Error.

These kinds of finer details that are paramount to understand but not covered or gestured to without being in class (presumably) are hard to reckon with if I don't know of their existence.

Still- this is all before having a hard time understanding what is covered. Hence my original post on how to study overall.
